This is a superb, breathtaking collection of powerful and moving sculptures in wood and stone by little known C20th Montrosian sculptor. Expertly curated by volunteers. Must be seen. Look for summer open times. Nearby is a gem of a local Museum, Montrose Museum, packed with interesting collections and artefacts including a display of taxidermy showing local wildlife and habitats which children adore!

Had never even heard of Elephant Rock despite it being virtually on our doorstep, but have made a few trips since discovering it. It’s on a very scenic windswept coastal pathway, bordered with glorious gorse and wildflowers- but beware the dog-poop, as this walk is very popular with negligent dog-walkers. On our last trip there , there were crazy youngsters sunbathing on what looked like a precarious upper area of the rock. The little family memorial en-route is very poignant, as are the fisherman’s cottages - sadly fallen to rack and ruin. This is also true of the limekilns , and there is a warning ⚠️ sign advising of the dangerous state of the building - so perhaps best to admire from afar. Nice views out to sea of sheltering vessels and across to the sands of lovely Lunan Bay.

Britain's first operational military air station was established in Montrose by the Royal Flying Corps in 1913. The heritage centre's collection of photographs and artefacts tell the story of RFC/RAF Montrose and the men and women who served here through two world wars. The award-winning heritage centre is an accredited museum run entirely by volunteers and was proud to receive The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2014. Absolutely fantastic couple hours spent wandering round this amazing gem of a place, highly recommend a visit! Staff are super friendly and informative. I especially loved the wee room full of old 40s wedding dresses , photos, jewellery etc, . Easiest 5star review ever!

A 20 acre Wildflower Meadow with its abundance of Wildlife, has tracks mown through to give access to the WildLife Pond and Standing Stone. Ancient Trees add to the beauty of the natural landscape.

This is a beautiful gem of a garden and a great tribute to the owners' very hard work and enthusiasm. We were there at the start of August and the herbaceous borders and beds were in full bloom. Lovely touches here and there hidden throughout the four walled grdens. The view of the Montrose Basin across the fields enhances the experience. Would most certainly recommend to those interested in their gardening. The pool at the front of the property and the fish are impressive too .

All activities have a minimum age limit of 8 years old, under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. We allow a 1 adult to 2 children ratio for under 12s and a 1 adult to 4 children for over 12s.
