El Morro

Reviewed By anewman63

We went here just before dusk on a Friday. It was spectacularly beautiful. After parking you walk for about 3 minutes down a rocky slope (not difficult even for the unathletic) and you are at a beach hemmed by cliffs of gorgeously stratified rock. You cross a brief zone of beautiful rounded stones to a narrow strip of superfine sand the color of cafe con leche. Close in, the water is a milky ice blue (not clear, because of the sand i think). A couple of hundred feet out the water is a darker blue and clear enough to see your toes. There were only 6 other people on the beach. We returned the following morning around 10am. There were only 3 other people on the beach. The waves were playful and the water felt lovely on our skin.

El Morro de Montecristi

Reviewed By 541darrellh - Sosua, Caribbean

The road ends at El Morro and the beach there. There are two hikes and a beautiful beach (with the shoe rock). Hiking up El Morro is a difficult hike. We started it with our two young kids and turned around. If it had been just the two of us we would have done it, but it was steep. The other hike is goes up the other side and has a stations of the cross on it. The beach is incredible with silky soft brown sand and very swimmable. It's like no other beaches we've been too because of the cliffs and desert mountains around.
