What to do and see in Mombasa, Coast Province: The Best Nature & Parks

January 31, 2022 Veronika Gaddis

Mombasa, with a population of 900,000, is no sleepy seaside village. Its beachfront hotels appeal to travelers in search of sun, sand and surf, while its Arab, Indian and colonial European heritage makes for a wide variety of sights to see. Can't find a taxi? Travel by tuk-tuk, a three-wheeled auto rickshaw.

I have seen Haller Park, formerly known as the Bamburi Nature Trail, grow from its humble starts in the 70's to what it is today, a text book example of a wasteland transformation which turned it into a nature reserve and home for many species of animals and birds. A must visit location when in Mombasa.
