What to do and see in Maasai Mara National Reserve, Rift Valley Province: The Best Day Trips from

May 21, 2022 Joeann Galban

Maybe your local zoo has lions, leopards, zebras or elephants. Maybe they even have wildebeest. But we bet they don't have 1.3 million wildebeest—never mind 1.3 million wildebeest in migration, with predators in hot pursuit. It's one of the most awesome sights in nature, and you can see it at Masai Mara in southwestern Kenya.

We had an amazing experience it was once in a lifetime kind of experience. The weather was soo beautiful and pleasant and animals freely roaming around the hotels(ones which are not harmful) like deers, zebra, etc the views from each of our hotels were so beautiful and peaceful. You can get good 8 hours sleep without any interruptions so calm and surreal. Where do i even get started on the safari, We went for mostly 2half days and one full day safari in low season and still we got to see all the animals like lion and leopard with their whole family and so up close it was like watch national geographic in reality we also got to see the hunt of deer by leopard. We are vegetarian people and still didn’t encounter any issues for our food amazing menu and service from each hotel. Special thanks to our experienced driver would highly recommend to get him, his name was Vincent and was truly a delight to meet him. He took us to all the locations where there were high chances of animals and we would definitely find there he was really hard working and tried his best to fulfil our every wish we are soo thankful for all the organisation done by the tour operator Ashwin and the guide(Vincent) provided by them.

This time I tried a long itinerary on my safari covering the Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli, it was a budget one and we had all the best offered to us. The vehicles used were comfortable for the drives and the driver had intensive knowledge of the parks and animal tracking. Then there's the communication part, very excellent, fulfilling all the promises and giving all valuable information we needed. Surely greytone bush tours team was a great choice.

It’s a lovely park - lots of rhino, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe. But a clean up needs to happen. There is lots of rubbish around the shoreline which should be cleaned up and we saw lots of dead flamingos and pelicans. In the past, tourists have flocked to see the countless flamingos on the lake. The lake is being polluted by run off from factories from Nakuru and it seems that is killing the birds. If that isn’t sorted out soon, people may stop coming.
