Mombasa, with a population of 900,000, is no sleepy seaside village. Its beachfront hotels appeal to travelers in search of sun, sand and surf, while its Arab, Indian and colonial European heritage makes for a wide variety of sights to see. Can't find a taxi? Travel by tuk-tuk, a three-wheeled auto rickshaw.

Imani Collective is a women empowerment program that employs over 60 artisans. Our gift shop is filled with beautiful products that you can take home and share the story with your friends and family. Our workshop is right across the street from the gift shop, so you can take a tour and say hello to all of the artisans! If you have more time, you can set up a weaving workshop ahead of time!
It's a must see if you are traveling through old town. Lots of character. Handmade treasures are throughout my favorite being my new wool rug.

AKAMBA HANDICRAFT is the most unique place I have seen in a long time. Very often you see precious works of local art and never imagine how they are being produces, carved or painted. If you visit AKAMBA you will know how much painful and patient work is required to produce these little treasures of original local folk art. The carvers at Akamba are high class and yet primitive. They are specialised in various, different animals, carving them with very basic, primitive tools they have. However their final products are immaculate and exceptional. The photos attached tell the story !!!. If I ever come back to Mombasa, I will certainly come back to visit AKAMBA Handicraft Factory. Set aside 2-4 hours to see the carving process and to browse their fantastic store at the end of your visit.

This my favourite casino in mombasa without hesitation ! OK I admit don't always come away winning do we all but great night and morning out for me and staff serving drinks and snacks if your gambling of course so they keep you there gambling as we all know is still a nice touch and clever business too. Been many times sometimes broke sometimes winning but enjoy the place terrific views over the bridge to town and river at night and try also tamarind restaurant too expensive but really nice .
