Fallen Oak Golf Course

The Beau Rivage operates this PGA caliber course as an amenity for guests, and in March the PGA seniors make a stop here. Arrival begins with greetings from expert staff who truly treat you like the only guests of the day. They cart your bags while your shoes are groomed, and the carts are waiting when you are ready to hit the range. You set the pace, especially fall and winter when play is less than summer and spring. A stop at the bar gives you a feel for why this is a top rated 19th hole. Meredith chats with you as you look through a huge bay glass wall at the 18th hole. We grabbed bloody Mary's and headed for the range. Pyramids of new premium balls, a club towel and fairway grass make for an ideal warm up. The practice putting green is highly recommended, as you need to get used to how far your ball will roll. Year round, the greens are immaculate, cropped like a table top and rolling forever. As we tee off we occasionally hear the sound of a distant leaf blower. The carts have course guide on a flat screen so you have pin distance always. The fairways are cut tight, so your scoop won't do, hit down on the ball and you'll be rewarded. The bunkers are groomed with rolling and scalloped shoulders that you step into carefully as the depth is 3 to 6 feet. Leaves from the old hardwood trees are neatly arranged along the cart path as you realize that occasional blower is a grounds crew blowing leaves off the greens and fairways so each group gets a tour quality experience. There are also embedded climate control systems under the greens it seems, as you will find air blowing up out of a vent as you walk off a green. Choose the correct tee for your group and you'll have a great round. Then head back to get your shoes cleaned again, have a drink and chat with Meredith about anything. You are king for a day at Fallen Oak where they earn their top rating one group at a time every round.

I wish I wasn't just passing through because I would have played here every day of my vacation. We played the Oaks Course. It was a little chilly for the locals at 9:30am, but being a New Englander, I was in shorts and it was Beautiful. I loved the layout, the elevated tees, the condition of the course. I'll have to get back to play the Azalea Course. I highly recommend this club.

I payed only $65 for a mid Sat. morning round. Got there a little early and the ladies in the bar prepared a very good breakfast sandwich and coffee. The course was in very good condition and being a Davis Love course was very well laid out and interesting. I will definitely play it again.
