Sachuest Beach (Second Beach)

One of Newport's most popular beaches.

Love this beach. The sand is soft and clean and the beach is usually not as crowded as some of the other beaches in the area. The rest rooms are clean. The parking price is reasonable and you can usually get a spot even if you get there after lunch.

Third Beach

Calm waters and a wide sandy area make this a favorite spot for families with children.

I went on a week day in September and was practically alone, which is what I wanted. No trouble social distancing. Water is calm and a tad coolish but nice. I was able to take my top off which is always a plus. Saw no facilities except portable toilets. Make sure you bring your fluids and food if you want it.

From low key to difficult - there are trails for hiking at all levels. Well marked with signs. Can plan from 1 to 3 hours of hiking. This location offers great views from ponds to the ocean. Overlooking 2nd beach is just beautiful. High looking out, steep slopes down and even a mansion to see. Near third beach so another great spot to stop. Sachuest Point not far. Farm stand also close by with great treats and food. Picnic tables here if bring snacks or lunch with you. Right now bathrooms are closed.

Sweet Berry Farm

Sweet Berry Farm is a post-and-beam farm market and café situated on 100 acres of conserved farmland. We are located only a short distance from downtown Newport and the island's beaches. From our market we sell our own freshly grown seasonal fresh fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, as well as a variety of gourmet and specialty foods. The pick-your-own season spans from June through December. Our barn and orchard offer two picturesque settings for your wedding or special event.

Sweet Berry Farm is not just for Berries. But yes, there are berries, beautiful varieties of berries to pick on your own, or buy ready-picked. But there are also apples and pumpkins in season. And there's a wonderful farm store, with produce, local crafts, excellent quality meals to eat in or take home. And it's a lovely place just to sit, sip an iced tea, and enjoy the surroundings.
