Bike Park Wales

BikePark Wales is the UK's number 1 mountain biking destination. We have 40 sections of lovingly created bike trail on our 850 hectare (1200 acre) site. We have an on-site uplift facility allowing riders to get a lift to the top of the hill with their bike in order to enjoy the descents, much like at a ski resort. Riders wishing to pedal to the top may also do so via a single track trail. We have trails to suit riders from intermediate to expert level rider and we also offer on-site coaching, bike hire, a lovely Cafe with log burner and an onsite bike shop. The top of our mountain offers fantastic views of Pen Y Fan and the rest of the Brecon Beacons.

Great place to ride. We stuck to the blue trails, which are a lot more challenging than you might think. The trails are absolutely brilliant, but the staff are what make this place what it is. Professional, helpful, and friendly. The lovely chap who set up my 14 year old sons hired Trek Remedy took extra time to ensure it was set up properly for his size and weight, even though there was a long queue waiting behind us. Big thank to you him for making my son feel comfortable on his first BPW trip! And then there was the uplift van driver - typical Welshman - super friendly, super helpful in ensuring the bikes were all strapped in safely and helping out the smaller and younger riders, and full of banter. I hope these guys are there next time we go. They are a great asset to BPW. The canteen can get busy, and it took us around an hour to get our food and have lunch. Next time we’ll bring our own food to save time, and just eat in the car. The car park is literally next to the cafe anyway. The food is basic. £9 for a burger. All in all, a great day. A BIG thank you to the two staff members mentioned above again! ????

Trago Mills

Reviewed By Valleyschick1 - Rhondda Cynon Taf, United Kingdom

We drove to Merthyr so that we could go shopping at Trago Mills, Cyfartha Retail Park and the Town Centre. Trago Mills is an amazing shop that takes a few hours to get around. There are various departments within the store including clothing, gardening, Christmas decorations and trees, tools, motoring, stationary and toys, soft furnishings and lighting, kitchen and bathroom showrooms and furniture. The shop was immaculate and there was clear signage around social distancing and the wearing of masks. We bought lots of items for the house including tools, new cushions, mugs, curtains and a rug, before eating dinner at the onsite chip shop For Cod Sake. We ordered sausage and chips with gravy and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. On previous visits we have gone to the Play Zone, which is an enormous inside soft play centre with slides, sensory equipment and zoned areas for children of different ages. For example there is an area for babies and an in door football court for older children. Within the Play Zone there is a cafe selling drinks and snacks, the entry fee is very cheap and the venue is great for parties. Unfortunately on this occasion it was closed due to Covid. Around Trago Mills there is also a cafe, hairdresser, bakery and nail bar. Once we finished at Trago Mills we drove to nearby Cyfartha Retail Park and looked around the many shops including Outfit, Debenhams, TK Max, Argos, JD Sports and so on. At the retail park there are lots of places to eat including McDonald's, the Harvester and KFC. After the Retail Park we went to Merthyr Town Centre which is traditional with a great mix of independent and well known shops such as New Look, Boots, Poundland and Sports Direct. There are also lots of places to eat and drink including the Caribbean Cwtch and Red Spice.
