We did a tour with the quats for 2,5 hour and we loved it. The quite is very professional. When you go to Marzouga then this is the place.

... it might sound like the bubbles rising through clear water in the central pool of this astonishing ethnographic, ecological, spiritual monument to one man's visionary purpose. If you travelled in southern Morocco and visited no other place than this, you would not have wasted your time. Fascinating and deeply moving.

We had been travelling through Morocco for several days visiting various cities, towns villages and really appreciating the culture and scenic wonders of Morocco. The highlight of our trip materialized when we approached the town of Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbe sand dunes where an amazing adventure began starting with our trek to our camp site riding on camels. The camp site was not far but seemed forever whilst travelling via dromedaries. The sand dunes seem endless, the desert sounds almost non existing when you travel away from town. Beautiful sunset, time to reflect and just gaze out into the open desert. Breathtaking...

A camel ride into the Sahara sand dunes - what more can I say. We took a 4x4 to the edge of the dunes where we transferred to camels for a 30 minute ride into the dunes. We dismounted and then climbed to the dune top from where we could see the setting sun as well as watch other tourists coming in camel-back.
The camel ride itself is unique. Even though the camel is initially reclining on it's stomach, climbing into the saddle is not all that easy. Then there is the multi-step process by which they get up which rocks you far forward and backward a couple of times. Their walking gait is quite bouncy, Finally the get up process is reversed for the animal to get down and the rider dismount.
One word of caution - be aware that like all outdoor attractions weather has a major influence. Even though it rarely rains, haze will strongly affect the beauty of the sunset and the night time view of the sky. Even without these two items, the trip is well worth it.

The point of my review title is that seeing these Roman ruins was a very nice contrast to all the other things we did in Morocco (Old Medinas, mosques, tradesmen, souks, camels, and driving). Wandering through these uncrowded ruins really provided a very peaceful recharge day for us.
It is a good idea to get a guide just so you’re not guessing where you are and don’t miss anything, although it’s not complicated and you’ll be fine without one. They asked 200Dirhams and we thought that was too much so we walked on. Soon enough another guide accepted my offer of 100Dirhams, which for less than an hour was fair for everyone.
This stop gave us the energy or peace or whatever to make the rest of our five hour drive back to Marrakech. We decided to skip Meknes proper since we had spent two days in both Marrakech and Fes. I think that was a good call.

The Volubilis site can be reached by private taxi, tourbus or walking from Moulay Idriss. It is a medium -sized site that takes 1.5 - 2hrs to visit in reasonable depth. The entry fee is only 10 dirhrams
Remember to bring a hat and bottle of water. Of all the places I visited in Morcocco, this was my favourite

The Bou Inania Medersa is a jewel in the Meknes medina. Decoration is wonderful, very quiet (one can visit alone without guides) and a visit to the rooftop is worthwhile.

Although it's only an entrance, it's magnificent! I'd advise getting a guide to explain all the history, metal work and mosaics. Because it's so near a busy road, there were many other tourists like us admiring it making it impossible to get a reasonable photo so try to admire it when it's less hectic.
