William Bradley Memorial Statue

Reviewed By congenital - Ripon, United Kingdom

In the centre of Market Weighton is a wooden statue of England's tallest man. He was born and lived in Market Weighton. The statue is a carved oak tree, beautifully crafted and a real feature of Market Weighton. Within a railed enclosure it is easily seen and viewed by young and old. Details are shown of its construction, carving etc. There is also a steel plaque and information on William Bradley. His house is still in the village and a large stone he apparently carried is also in the village ( by the newsagents). His thigh bone is said to be in a museum and of length 24 inches. The statue is well worth coming off the by pass to visit.
