Market Harborough is a market town within the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. It has a population of 22,911 (2011) and is the administrative headquarters of Harborough District Council. It sits on the Northamptonshire-Leicestershire border. The town was formerly at a crossroads for both road and rail; however the A6 now bypasses the town to the east and the A14 which carries east-west traffic is 6 miles (9.7 km) to the south. The town is served by East Midlands Trains with direct services to Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby and St Pancras International. Rail services to Rugby and Peterborough ended in 1966.

The fresh produce looks amazing when you walk through the shop, veg, fruit, fresh meat, bread and cakes to name a few, you can find more unusual items and gifts.
The cafe serves lovely food too. Not very pc but the loos are worth a visit!

We visited as part of a coach trip yesterday... we, ie the 43 of, us were the only visitors!
Our tour guide was excellent. He told us so much information about the history of the house, it's various owners, and how it has ended up as it is today in a manner that was interesting, amusing and easy to follow. He kept all our attention all the time.
The kitchen and scullery I loved the most... very well laid out, as if it was operational.
Rockingham isn't overly large which I liked... and you could imagine living in it.. it wasn't so grand or ott that feeling 'at home' in it would be hard!
The Gardens were delightful... the 'elephant hedge' is amazing, the roses beautiful and the agapanthus stunning. The views over the surrounding countryside very far reaching and super in the Sunshine we had.
At the end of our visit we enjoyed a first class, huge! scone with jam and cream and a cup of tea or coffee in the cafe.... lovely friendly staff in there too.
It was a superb visit from start to finish. Highly recommend going!

Quad bike excursion in the snow between Xmas and New Year. We were delayed with the sudden snow dump but other bookings had cancelled so it didn't hamper our ride too much. Good facilities for none riders, comfy, warm cabin with free tea and biscuits!...MoreThank you for your review. We do always try to keep out activities running, whatever the weather throws at us. We do recommend wellingtons or walking boots for the quad biking so I apologise if they was not conveyed to you prior to the event.

Set at at the middle of the Famous Foxton Locks site, The BoilerHouse uses fun and animated films in support its historic collection of artifacts, to tell the story of Foxton Locks and The inclined Plane Boat Lift. 'Canal Museum@The BoilerHousse' reopened in April 2015 after a major Arts Council funded refurbishment. We now have films, a unique 'boiler game' and several screens telling the story. you can also download the Foxton App, this brings the lift and history alive out on site, the full app is £3.99 but it lets one adult into the BoilerHouse for Free! Children love the Boiler Game and the play boat, but the children are often old enough to retire! Wheelchair access is good, but you may need assistance as the site is quite steep. give us a call if you want advice. School parties and group visits welcome. The Museum brings to life, life on the locks in this area throughout history. You come away with a much better understanding of the engineering feats used to create both the stepped lock and the now defunct lock lift and the life of the people...MoreThank you for your review. I'm glad you came away with a better understanding of the lift. It is quite an amazing piece of engineering.
