We will visit a special place where emergent trees still exist and the animals got a balance in the ecosystem with enough resources. This place is home of more than 400 species of birds among those the second largest population of Scarlet Macaws in Costa Rica, Toucans, Motmots and the Antpitta such as examples. First, we will wake up early in the morning in order to pick up tourists at 5am in the hotel. Second, we will head to Carara National Park which opens at 7am where we will explore the main trails and spots inside the two different areas of the park to find and watch all the species possible during around 4 hours. After birding all the morning we will visit a costa rican homemade soda to have lunch and may go to another close spot around Tarcoles River before to come back to Manuel Antonio. There's also an option for those who want to know the local birds without driving long distances and it´s to explore the local hot spots that only local birders know and we know can be great

We loved our tour with Mauro. It was wonderful to see Manuel Antonio with a private guide and he really took his time with us. Mauro is able to identify an incredible number of species of wildlife and discuss each one. He is also very knowledgeable regarding the history of the area, both as it relates to humans and wildlife. Everything I read said you really need a guide to be able fully enjoy the park and it’s true. Mauro found a Fer de Lance snake, deer, howlers, capuchins and three different sloths to name a few! We watched one sloth long enough to watch her finish eating a leaf and go to sleep. That would not have been possible without a private guide. He also provided us with a delicious meal afterwards, so we discovered a great restaurant too. Mauro is an amazing guide and I would definitely recommend him!

So far I've been to Costa Rica twice and booked with Jimmy twice - once in September 2017 and again in December 2019. He is the BEST. TOUR. GUIDE. EVER!!! I wouldn't consider booking with anyone else. Jimmy is so knowledgeable about everything related to Costa Rica. And he has a true heart for service. From the smallest things like the leaves from a certain tree that smell like wintergreen, to knowing where the hidden little water falls and swimming holes are, to all of the big stuff too. Plus, he knows everybody in the area. So he can get you a table where you want to eat, a prime spot on the beach with excellent service, the best grocery shopping. You name it, Jimmy can make it happen! His English is excellent. And if you are wanting to work on your Spanish, he will assist you with that too. I promise you cannot go wrong by booking with Jimmy! Thanks Jimmy - hope to see you again later this year!

Efrain’s Night Tour is a MUST DO and a top highlight of our time in Costa Rica. Efrain (our Guide and Owner), was by far the most talented at spotting and describing the local wildlife and we will never forget this experience. During our time we observed frogs, spiders, snakes, sloths, scorpions and other night creatures. Efrain is so passionate and has deep family ties to the preservation and conservation of the Manuel Antonio Park. The night tour was so good, we had to use Efrain again for the Manuel Antonio Walking Tour the very next day! He also has a knack for getting some amazing pictures through his telescope with your phone for some amazing memories!
