We were 2 couples and we did the 3 hour tour. Dick was our guide and has an amazing personality. He was also very patient with others on the tour!
The views were awesome, from the overlooks to the bridges and streams.
If you have the chance to do take any of their tours, please do. You will not regret it.

Kancamagus Highway

Highway 112, or the Kanc, runs from Center Conway to North Woodstock, just south of Franconia Notch. Passing through the White Mountain National Forest, it is considered one of the most scenic highways in the U.S. and offers a number of interesting stopping off points.

Reviewed By Walter R - Augusta, Maine

NOthing compares to the Kangamagus Highway. It has everything that draws the interest of the adventurer: covered bridge, waterfalls, historic sites, lots of hiking trails for beginners to experts. Its especially impressive in the winter when the snow is settled in the woods and along the trails. The Swift River is perfect for the amateur or professional photographer; especially at Lower Falls and Rocky Gorge. If you're daring you can stop along the way and get great shots of the river wit its clean water and interesting falls. Don't miss the Colbath House with its classic barn and simple cemetery. Stop for the historic markers if the history bug has bit you..

Castle in the Clouds

This "castle," a former estate, and the surrounding grounds, offer remarkable views of the White Mountains and Lakes Region.

Reviewed By MS06 - Boston

I had last been here about 18 years ago, and the house has had quite a makeover. Fascinating to stroll around. There are lovely views, but the leaves were late this year. If you want to stroll to the waterfall, do it on the way up as there is a different road down. The entrance fee is quite pricy.

This would have been interesting and fun in the sixties, but it is not today. Rides and exhibits are simply dated and the storyland themes are not interesting to kids beyond the age of six.

Our eldest daughter had her wedding ceremony and reception here yesterday - perfect location, perfect food and Carol and Hannah provided above and beyond service and attention for the wedding. My daughter had researched (and visited) several locations in Maine - and this was the obvious, obvious choice!

As parents of the bride - my wife and I are beyond thankful and impressed by the people who run Stone Mountain Arts Center. The newlyweds are ecstatic with the results!!

You are wasting your time looking for a better venue to hold a wedding.

Thanks, Carol and Hannah and SMAC!! You are the BEST!!

Monkey Trunks

Monkey Trunks offers fun for children, adults and families! Participants begin with ground school and receive safety instructions on how to navigate through the course. They then move on to the green course to demonstrate they have the ability to properly use their equipment. After completing these two stages, participants will progress through the levels - each level becomes progressively more challenging! Monkey Trunks courses feature 11 ziplines and 63 challenges consisting of swinging beams, tightropes, rolling logs, hanging tires, cargo nets and more! Each Monkey Trunks location includes a children's course for the littlest of monkeys, with platforms no more than 6' off the ground. The children's courses include 6-8 challenges with an 80' zipline at the finish. Reservations are encouraged and can be made anytime online or by phone.

I have driven by Monkey Trunks so many times and never had the time to go, finally got the chance recently with 3 teenagers and a 5 year old. The staff was preoccupied and honestly seemed to be spending more time messing around together than helping/motivating/encouraging the kids. The teenagers enjoyed themselves, although they were looking for more guidance from the staff. Unfortunately the 5 year old was totally traumatized after being left behind to struggle by the staff member who accompanied him on the kids course. The kids all felt rushed through the course, as if it was an inconvenience that we were there. The staff seemed more interested in hanging out together than helping the kids through the course.

If your kids are super strong and there's a group of them to keep each other motivated it is a great activity for older kids, just don't expect the staff to participate much. Could have been an amazing experience if the staff were a bit more involved and focused on the kids.

I would highly recommend King Pine to anyone visiting the Madison area in the winter/early spring months. The facilities for tubing are fab and there are three different runs so if it is busy there is always enough runs to ensure you get lots of goes. Also, on some evenings they do $10 tubing . Good fun for people of all ages

The Old Country Store

Quite possibly the oldest retail establishment in America built on the corner from the barn frame in 1781 we carry the items that other stores don't carry from penny candy to wrought iron hardware to an old museum above the store we're open seven days a week and there's some thing for everyone ages 3 to 100

Such a unique store to shop or just browse in. Only bought the Old Farmers Almanac but enjoyed looking at everything. I have been to this store starting as a child. The penny candy was a big draw then. They still have it but it...MoreThank you for your great review! Yes we have watched all the candy get smaller and go up in price over the years! Hope to see you again soon?

We watched a Saturday afternoon production of "You Can't Take It With You" and it was outstanding. The cast was superb and the acting first-rate. Our seats were good. Although there are some venue limitations around lighting and sound, it did not diminish the high quality of the production. This was our first visit to this theater and we will plan to return.

Mount Chocorua

Reviewed By Steven H - New York City, New York

Chocorua is according to the APC the most photographed mountain in the world and it's no wonder why. It's a gorgeous mountain sheltered in the southeastern White Mountains that isn't as challenging as the taller Presidential mountains, and has a huge summit with just amazing views. Keep in mind, Chocorua is still a tough climb in parts with extended sections that go up and up and up and some that require a little scrambling. We hit the summit via the Champney Falls Trail with a couple of little doggies who were both able to make the climb without incidence. They did need some help with a couple of the upper sections of rock leading up to the summit above the treeline.
