Without the big ugly wellness building they are constructing in the middle of the nature, the panoramic view from the terril would have been perfect. Although this is still an industrial site, the domain is well kept and perfect for a 2-4 hour walk. The nearby terril is most beautiful. If you have the opportunity to visit the site with a 'ranger', you will get a lot of interesting things to know of both the history and the current fauna and flora.

yesterday took my better half to do some pre xmas shopping
i have been to this outlet center several times in the past
as well as to other outlet centres around europe when travelling
+ points
easy parking if you arrive early, not good if you arrive late
the village is well set and maintained
the lavs are well looked after
- points
the 10 pct discount card is not available on demand to local residents
-
i was flabbergasted to see a bus load of asian visitors get one ;no questions asked and me a local visitor of long standing to be refused the card
its reverse discrimination at its best and it is not acceptable in a free and egalitarian world
the prices in the shops are high as compared to other outlets in visit in France and Spain and Italy
typically 20 to 30 pct more
so its not really interesting to drive more than one hour to pay more than i would in lille or calais which take a similar time to reach

there are 3 places to eat in the whole village
these have limited capacity and are overloaded in the lunch period
and if you are patient type ( i am not ) you can please wait outside in line for 20 -30 min to take a seat in a squashed environment
we chose to drive 5 min the the real village and have a real meal for less money
with no waiting
- i guess the center is not doing too well as a counted at least 7 empty shops which apparently had been empty for some time
there is also a quite high rotation of brands so i suppose the minor tenants don't feel the rent is justified
due to the commercial error of the organization i wont be going there again and will inform my friends and colleagues of the discrimination against local visitors

We keep coming back to this Hoge Kempen National Park gateway. From here you can explore and choose from several walks, different lengths but all beautiful scenery. At the entrance there is a restaurant for drinks and refreshments.
