Phantom Falls

Reviewed By Haggis_Supper - Melbourne, Australia

We found this fabulous walk using the Wikiloc app and decided to stop here on the way to a weekend stay at Separation Creek. We started from the car park on Allenvale Road and followed the well signposted track to the falls. It’s about a 2km walk to the falls. If you drop down to the bottom of the falls there is another path that takes you across a bridge. We followed this for a while before turning back. The path to the falls starts past a few houses and fields, along a river and then up through the forest. There is one steep section at the end, a total climb of 125m. Plenty of birds around and just a beautiful walk with diverse scenery and nature. Perhaps it was because it was lunchtime on a Friday but we had the place to ourselves. We walked for 5.5km and spent about 90 mins from start to finish. An easy, relaxing and beautiful walk. Highly recommended.

Erskine Falls

Nice drive up to the falls followed but a short walk to see them. Be prepared for steep steps awkwardly spaced so if you have leg joint issues dont take on the steps. Once down you can try and walk across the creek and closer to the falls but beware it can be very slippery.

Lorne Beach

Clamber over rocks to discover mini eco systems and secret marine worlds in the rocks along the beach... it's exciting never knowing what's going to hide in the rock pools. And if you tire of trying to find hidden delights you can simply walk along the beach and enjoy the view. This is a lovely beach just to spend time on... apparently it's a patrolled beach in Summer meaning that for young families it's probably a safer time...but for someone like myself who simply plays with the edge of the waves... this is a delight all year around.

Well worth the trip, the track leading to it can be quite muddy in winter so make sure you’re wearing appropriate footwear unlike myself at the time but so glad I went

We combined this walk with the canyon walk starting and ending at Allenvale car park and walking via Phantom Falls. The scenery includes wonderful forests, an amazing ferntree gully and :going down the rabbit hole: to enter the canyon

Cora Lynn Cascades Walk

Reviewed By LornaViking - Melbourne, Australia

I feel like I need to write this review for those of us who are unfit, since other reviews say how easy this walk is. The return walk is a killer. I cannot count how many times I had to stop and let my heart rate settle before I could move on. I am capable of walking very long distances on flat land but this 2km constant incline absolutely destroyed me. Decide for yourself if you are fit enough, or willing to swallow your pride and stop every 50m to recover. Having said that! The walk was stunning, there are some incredibly tall and impressive trees to stop and admire. The Cascades themselves are lovely and I had the place to myself. The hike doesn't seem as popular as others in the area so you may well have the perfect quiet hike with only you and the birds singing. I think it would be more difficult in wetter months as I could tell the track is prone to being muddy and slippery. Wear appropriate shoes/gumboots and take hiking poles if you're unsteady on your feet. The scenery was worth the effort and I'll definitely be back once I've spent a few hours on the Stairmaster. ????

The waterfall is a bit hidden from road. There is a parking spot and you have to walk about 15 minutes along the river under the road. The waterfall has platform and chair where you can sit and enjoy the pretty of waterfalls.
