Wonderful scenery with breathtaking views across Bodmin Moor and beyond. A gentle walk to the Cheesewring passing Daniel Gumps old "house" gives you an idea of what it was like many years ago. Occasional climbers in the quarry below the Cheesewring make interesting watching. Good choice of cafes and a pub in Minnions

St Martin's Church

St Martin’s Church in Liskeard is a medieval Grade II* listed building, dating back to 1428. It is the 2nd largest parish church in the Diocese of Truro. It comprises a central and two side aisles, plus a Lady Chapel. It has some beautiful decorative features, and the old font has a superb carved cover. The pulpit is of English oak, with rich arabesque carving. The clergy stall is also beautifully carved and adorned with a carved angel. Perhaps the most unusual feature is the highly decorated war memorial frieze, which includes civilians, as well as the armed forces. With eight women and four men depicted it is very unusual for war memorials. The churchmanship is “open evangelical”. Sunday services are usually at 09:15 (1-hour service with choir and organ), 11:00 (75-minute service with music group, children’s and youth groups) and 18:00. There is a communion service at 09:30 in the church centre on Wednesday mornings. The church can be hired as a venue so access cannot be guaranteed.
