Telar de Jarapas Hilacar ArtesAna

The ”Artisan for one day” course is an introduction to weaving a “jarapa” rug on a manual loom and a way of getting a feeling for the workshop and the fabric, in which you will be able to weave a rug using the colours of your choice and the design you like best. It is a chance to make a rug with your own hands which you will then be able to enjoy with the satisfaction that you wove it.

Chocolates Sierra Nevada

artisan chocolate factory in the heart of the Alpujarras , particularly in Pitres , where you can see and taste all the products we produce . We also have two services and cafeteria service .

As we where in the neighborhood at Trevélez we decided to pass by specially after reading great reviews. Wooow nothing was exaggerated it’s a great small shop where you can see even how they make the chocolates. Ofcourse we bought more than enough for the whole town. Taste Ed all and bought our favorites. Advise don’t come with a full storage. All chocolates are home made artisan, and products used of the area. The fig chocolates with liquor are the best as the milk chocolate with honey. They speak a bit English but with basic spanish your good as well. The prices are actually quite cheap for what you get. Entrance free, free tastings and no obligation to buy. You can pay by card as well.

Orgiva Tea Garden

GOOD NEWS. WE WILL OPEN AGAIN STARTING ON WEDNESDAY JULY 1ST & FOR EVERY WEDNESDAY IN JULY. WE WILL THEN MAKE A DECISION WITH REGARDS TO THE FOLLOWING MONTHS. WE ASK ALL GUESTS TO PLEASE FOLLOW COVID19 REGULATIONS & GUIDELINES & TO BE MIND FULL OF ALL OTHER VISITORS. THANK YOU Kay & Bernard The Orgiva Tea Garden at the Las Chimeneas finca has evolved from a barren patch of land that had been abandoned for over 30 years into a beautiful tranquil garden split over three very different levels and covering about 5000 sq m. The philosophy with regards to the planting has been to concentrate mainly on Mediterranean plants with help from shade providing trees and also to take into account our animals as many have free roam over the garden. Refreshments are available including homemade sandwiches, a variety of teas ,coffee and other drinks and of course Kay's famous delicious homemade cakes. Entrance is 3€.

Visited on the last Wednesday in October and spent several hours listening to the magnificent guitar playing of José Vilchez and touring the interesting gardens. Delighted that Bernard and Kay were so welcoming and made themselves available to chat about what they have achieved and how they had done it. For us the real highlight was José Vilchez whose playing in such wonderful, tranquil surroundings was magnificent. A light lunch of their delicious sandwiches in the dappled shade listening to such good music was definitely a highlight of our holiday. We can't wait to repeat this next year.

I had 3 days riding in the beautiful mountains and countryside around Orgiva. Becky instantly makes you feel at home and with the informal atmosphere adapts to what ever you want whenever possible. The trek up the mountains on narrow tracks is a different and great experience but you always feel safe. Everything is at a very relaxed pace giving you time to enjoy the countryside but with lots of opportunities for cantering if you want to.

Ruta de los Pilares

Reviewed By siouxsy - Tustin, United States

We were planning on going to the higher villages but due to car sickness from one of our party members left us in this little town before heading down. Tiny little town. Must, must by the local jamon and jamon iberico here!!! So good and cheap. We hit up 3 jamon shops before heading down. We also got some bread at the Galician bakery and produce and honey at the local stores. Everything we purchased there was fantastic. Regretted not buying more of everything..especially the jamon iberico which out of the 3 shops we went to only one at the far end sold sliced.
