What can I say, this was truly a lovely experience.
Thanassis and Eleni were just the sweetest and friendliest couple you'll ever meet.
Their passion and respect for their bees shows as they explain the structure and functions of a hive and then the honey extraction process.
The bees are not interested in you (sorry to break it to you!) so the whole time we were there, not a single bee flew on or near us. Even when you're holding the frames.
My wife is terrified of bees and was dreading this experience but within 20 mins, she had a new love for bees.
We ended the trip with drinks, delicious baked treats and even made two wax candles to take home.
We also bought a lot of honey from them but they do no pressure you in any way to buy anything which is probably why we bought so much!
Trust me (a random person on the internet!) and just book it. You will not regret it!
Bees are remarkable, selfless creatures. Without them we're screwed so go learn about them!

As you can guess the views from the Castle (free) are wonderful, you can look down in to Peratata, Argostoli is plane to see and into the Ionian wounderful views, walking shoes are recommended tho, my partner is visually impaired amd so we had to cut our walk around short as she was finding it a we bit difficult but don't let this put you off. There was 1 Taverna open plus a small gift sop also open we visited mid Sept'. Free parking in the village square, the drive up the mountain is Ok.

Watch the above film for a taster of what your holiday could be. We visited with children and friends and had a perfect week sailing into Ionian ports to eat at Tavernas, or morning up in private bays to sleep under the stars in isolation. We even took in a Donkey trek to explore the island - such a fab and different holiday that suits couples, families, chillaxers and action seekers alike! Big thanks to Sam and the Racing Snake ;)

We travel to kefalonia allot and travel Ll over the island but OMG -
The price of a small beer is €5 each ..
we had just spent the day at avithos and that's expensive by comparison to lots of places ...
I told him it was over the top and that we won't return - it's a shame as we were about to order food ..
the place itself / beach area etc is amazingly gorgeous but their attitude at the beach bar when I challenged them over the prices was met with ..
"oh well"

The truth is your more expensive than fiskardo ..
We Won't go there again .. only to the beach

This is one of the most beautiful Beaches in Kefalonia. It is enclosed by a bay so it is very clam (r was today). There are some fish to see in the water. It is just one of the prettiest places we have gone to here. My wife snorkeled out by half an hour near the rocks. There was a bit of current so that did not seem altogether safe to me, but she had no trouble. We could not find the beach shower if there is one.

You can visit this monument without using a tour company - it is just outside of Argostoli up the hill towards Panorama Finari Apartments. Lots of Italian visitors showing their respect - humbling experience. Just across the street from the memorial is another site, which often gets missed, just tucked in the trees you can see the Italian flag and mementos.

Beautiful, sandy, extremely clean beach with the most wonderful sea: clear and incredibly blue. Naturally being close to the airport means there are planes flying by and it is exciting even for a Londoner who sees hundreds of planes above her head everyday (not at such close distance, mind you)!

We used Eden bar several times in the past years,but this year we introduced some of our family,we were a party of 8,the service was excellent,the staff couldn't do enough for us,getting tables together,drinks, snacks.I had got a walking problem this year and had to have taxi,this was never a problem,and the lady who ordered them for me,stayed with us till the taxi moved away.Thankyou for helping to make our holiday special.
