What to do and see in Lake District, England: The Best Walking Tours

April 27, 2022 Joeann Galban

Cumbria's valleys and fells (as the low mountains are known) are home to idyllic villages, high moorlands and picturesque lakes. Literary buffs will enjoy Wordsworth's Dove Cottage (go in March to see daffodils), and if you've got kids in tow, visit The World of Beatrix Potter. Or just enjoy a leisurely drive through beautiful scenery.

Scafell Pike is the tallest mountain in England and a fantastic accomplishment. All that said, it isnt just about standing on top of England, the journey to the top is where you will see the wonderful sights. The huge cliffs and deep gullys send the imagination wild and bring a real sense of adventure. The Corridor Route is by far the most exciting and rewarding route to the summit of Scafell Pike and once you reach the summit you will feel accomplished. Our mission at Summit and Beyond is to reconnect people with nature, inspire confidence, build resilience and teach the skills needed to remain safe in the mountains.

The C2C has been on our bucket list for a while and with everything else cancelled this year, we contacted Packhorse to see if they could arrange everything for us. I honestly can’t fault them, brilliant set up, very knowledgable and the gpx files they sent were a Godsend from start to finish especially walking to Grasmere in Storm Francis. If you’re thinking about it, just get it booked and use Packhorse. They’ve been doing it for years and know their stuff. We loved every minute, it’s easily the best holiday we’ve ever had and we’d do it again in a heartbeat.

I joined the North Wales Adventure with Busy Bus, on 26/9/2020. It was a fantastic day trip through N. Wales and the Snowdonia Park. The places we visited, the scenery we met, the organisation of the trip were brilliant. Frank, our driver and guide was amazing! He made our tour unforgettable! A wonderful man, who loves his job and made us a little Welsh too. I'm looking forward to joining more day trips with Busy Bus. Thank you.
