This was a great walk/climb. Especially during hot summer this is a great spot to be. Children were enthusiastic and walk took much less time. Really worth to go for a walk. It is difficult, but even small children with some help will manage.

Burg Lahneck

We took the train to Oberlahnstein, then walked to the castle, took us about 30 minutes, is pretty much all uphill, and very strenous, especially as you get closer to the castle. There is a cafe right next to the castle, which serves the best waffles we ever had. You must tour the castle as part of an organized tour, which happen on the hour. Tour is given in German, but an English translation guide is available and very helpful. There is a very interesting, yet sad story about a British tourist who died on the tour about 130 years ago. We were staying in Braubach, and were able to tour this castle in the early afternoon, and still have time to tour Marksburg Castle at 4pm.
