Sunrise Beach

A great beach. East side is Sunrise, walk west and you have sunset. Lots of shady trees to shelter from. A good choice of restaurants and bars tucked under shady trees. Low key, not tourist.

Ko Lipe

Reviewed By vanyalouise - Swansea, United Kingdom

I don’t regret coming to Koh Lipe , having visited Thailand 25 times I decided to come here . There are far more better places to visit , the prices are unbelievably expensive if you are not used to paying what they charge here on the island , food and drink is triple or double than other parts of Thailand . Beaches are not as great as everyone hypes on about of they was unspoiled it would be lovely don’t come here expecting the Maldives , I have been to the Maldives and this is nothing like the Maldives there are other Islands with white sands that won’t cost you a bomb

Sanom Beach

stumbled upon Sanom Beach while walking to Lipe View Point. It's an uphill walk from Walking Street (inland, about 1km) and there's a signage for you to turn left. if you're not planning to hike, access is available from Pattaya Beach. bring lots of water as the sun could be painfully hot. you may plan this along with a visit to the cliff for sunset.

Pattaya Beach

Reviewed By mxkwan - New York City, New York

So, Pattaya Beach is off the end of the Koh Lipe Walkthrough. It’s actually quite a beautiful shared space with long-tailed boats and other resorts. It’s got an amazing view of the horizon and a bit of the island when it curves into the sunset.
The sand is one of the most incredibly fine and white, soft sand I’ve felt. The water is warm and clear and it’s quite a pleasant place to be if you have a couple hours to kill. At night, you can actually see the lighting up of the plankton (blue eyes) drift onto the shore if you play in the very shallows when the waves crash into the beach.
The only downside is how dirty the beach gets. This is a matter of tourists. This beach is beautiful in all the ways of a new island, which is still developing. The restaurants here are unorganized and the hotels aren’t quite up to par. However, this beach is its saving grace. Please take your trash with you when you leave. There is a sign that fines 2000 B if you litter, but I haven’t seen a single officer on this island.
Do the right thing and clean after yourselves, taking your bottle caps and dirty diapers (disgusting!) with you!

Sunset Beach

Reviewed By Elo0687 - Perth, Australia

To reach the beach you have to walk through the fisherman’s village and the forest, which is a good experience to explore the island and get to know the way of life.
However when you reach the beach is quite upsetting: really dirty (tourists to blame for sure).
It is ironic that the beach is exactly in front of the nature park management and nobody seems to care.

Bundhaya Speed Boat

Reviewed By jghastings - London

After a fairly bad experience with Tigerline on the way to Koh Ngai from Krabi Airport, I decided to enquire with the reception at the excellent Mayalay resort about a better alternative (despite having booked and paid for a ticket to Phuket with them already). They sneered at the mere mention of Tigerline, which confirmed what I already thought.
The resort staff instead booked me on Bundhaya, which had the added bonus of leaving a few hours earlier. The pickup point was the neighbouring campsite, just a short walk along the beach. There was a bit of a delay there, but eventually a large group of us piled into longboats for the trip out to a rocky island off shore, the lee of which made for calmer conditions on a windy day. We did wait for quite a while out there - the speedboat was clearly running late - but there are worse things than bobbing around in azure waters next to soaring cliffs.
The speedboat itself was a similar design to Tigerline’s, but with windows at a height you could see out from sitting down and a more spacious Seating layout onboard. After the initial delay things ran more smoothly, with a fast and attractive run to Koh Lanta, a fairly efficient change of boats there and then onwards to Phuket via Ko Phi Phi. By the end of the final leg I was starting to get a bit uncomfortable, but only for a few minutes before we docked.
The staff worked much more efficiently than I had seen on Tigerline, seemingly trying to make up time rather than inexplicably doing nothing for long periods while their passengers sweltered on board.
I think all the outfits plying the lower parts of the Andaman have a slightly ramshackle air about them, but I would rate Bundhaya much higher than Tigerline.
