Kemerovo Oblast (Russian: Ке́меровская о́бласть, Kemerovskaya oblast), also known as Kuzbass (Кузба́сс) after the Kuznetsk Basin, is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast), located in southwestern Siberia, where the West Siberian Plain meets the South Siberian mountains. The oblast, which covers an area of 95,500 square kilometers (36,900 sq mi), shares a border with Tomsk Oblast in the north, Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia in the east, the Altai Republic in the south, and with Novosibirsk Oblast and Altai Krai in the west. Kemerovo is the administrative center of the oblast, though Novokuznetsk is the largest city in the oblast, in terms of size. Kemerovo Oblast is one of Russia's most urbanized regions, with over 70% of the population living in its nine principal cities. Its ethnic composition is predominantly Russian, but Ukrainians, Tatars, and Chuvash also live in the oblast. The population recorded during the 2010 Census was 2,763,135.

If you like long queues, ungroomed trails, rude people cutting in line, snowboarders running to the front of the queue, and people standing on your skis all day, this is the place for you. Oh, and no central lift pass, long hikes from hotel to lifts and very limited parking. It's sort of anarchy on a mountain.
Also lots of bad skiiers and boarders and beginners who are hazardous to others. Expect at least one collision per day.
Also, very limited food options and no toilets, both of which are subject to long queues.

It's a really good alternative to industrial Kemerovo (40 mins driving to northwest from Kemerovo, Yashkino highway, take Kirovsky district exit runway)). Here you can breathe pine forest fresh air, enjoy siberian mini-zoo, imagine how southwest Siberia looks like 2-6 thousand years B.C., see places of local's worship, rock art with many petroglyphs (antropomorphic faces and bodies, elks) and take a magnificent view on the so beloved Russian landscape from hills to plains and Tom' river at the observation spot close to prettiest new one Kuzbass Orthodox wooden chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

We enjoyed a tour of the museum with some locals who seemed to take great pride in the history of the town. The sight is very nice above the river, and the tour was fun, especially in the tunnel wearing the miner's cap. A comfortable walk, nice garden, and understanding of the area. Highly recommend it.

Another way to get yourself busy in the city. It's a small venue, comfortable seats. Tibet have a easy access website, even for non Russian speakers, with the programmers and tickets purchase. There is an ok sushi restaurant across the road, if you fancy a bite before or after a play.

Novokuznetsk is quite a gloomy town overall, its fortress at least provides you with a nice view and patches of green grass. The museum itself is interesting in some places, such as collection of historical furniture and photographs. Nice and helpful ladies on staff. The toilets are a disgrace.

Каждое лето и не один раз посещаем парк Гагарина. Особенно актуальны такие прогулки с маленькими и не очень детьми. Для них здесь есть масса развлечений. Несмотря на то что некоторое оборудование старое, техническое состояние вполне приличное, каждый год появляются новинки.

This is the main public square in the centre of the city and is very easy to find. I've been there at various times of the year and am always amazed by the different things put on: open air traditional Kuzbass goods market, and now everything is getting geared up for the New Year festivities so the council have erected temporary ice hockey and skating rinks, beautiful huge statues of Ded Moroz and his grand-daughter Snegurochka, and a team of experts are mounting fantastic hand-carved ice sculptures. There are a lot of well-maintained climbing frames for small children, and plenty of benches to sit on and watch the day go by. The square has round-the-clock security personnel so it's a great, safe place to visit.

This is a normal park for families with children in the city center. A specialty of the park is the variety ducks. Ducks live on the river in the park. Children and adults love to feed the birds. The lack - little places to eat. Children spend a lot of time in the park and they want to eat.
