The temple itself is free to enter, but the entrance fee to see the inner part of the wood carvings was 400 yen, and well worth the price, as they were very beatiful and detailed, the entrance fee also covers a garden on the temple grounds which was beatiful aswell.

We stayed near this place during our maiden visit to Japan. It is accessible from Shibamata Station (on the Keisei-Kanamachi line). It does not get very crowded often, but does close early. There are several shrines around the area, and some attractions a little further.
