KanyaKumari is a town in KanyaKumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The name comes from the Devi Kanya Kumari Temple in the region, in Tamil it is pronounced as 'Kan-niya-kumari'. It is the southernmost tip of peninsular India, and is surrounded on three sides by the Laccadive Sea.Kanyakumari town is the southern tip of the Cardamom Hills, an extension of the Western Ghats range. Nearest city is Thiruvanathapuram (85km) and airport is Trivandrum International Airport, Trivandrum , Kerala. and the nearest town is Nagercoil, the administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District, 22 km (14 mi) away. Kanyakumari has been a town since Sangam period and is a popular tourist destination.

The tickets at the boat jetty are available from 8 am to 4 pm. The regular ticket charge is Rs 34 per head(return ticket) The ticket counter and the Q is well organised and regulated. The line moves fast. The journey is just 10 minutes. The embarking and disembarking is safe and smooth with the boatmen helping seniors and children in the process. Once you enter the memorial you have to buy a Rs 20 ticket for entry and then again another Rs. 20 ticket for darshan at the memorial. One has to remove the footwear at the stand once we land on the rock and so one has to avoid the afternoon time when the ground would be hot to walk. The view is breathtaking and leaves one speechless! There is a book shop and a gift shop. Toilet facility is provided. While returning, again there is a Q but this is not very well organized and many people who could manage were barging in the Q and rushing in the boat to grab a seat. It was sad to note that so many Indians are basically inclined to push forward without considering the quiet and humble persons who happen to be a minority!

This is the Only temple in the world that Mummurthi's are in one single Idiol namely "sthanumalayan". Beware of the sales person around the temple, they lectured lot of things like a guide and finally they sold the garland,lamp and other things to you in heavy cost.
Another important swami in this shrine is Sucindrum Anjineyar, he is in the outer prakaram of this temple.

Its not a temple anymore, you have to pay for entry, keeping baggage, keeping shirts. and if thats not enough, there are seller even inside the temple. Even inspite of this you should visit the temple for the beauty and what is left of it now.

Was really looking forward to this, but although the sunset was cool, the state of the place wasn't. So much litter everywhere, dreadful. This could be a really beautiful tourist spot......beware of the "pearl sellers" lol...all fake.....and careful where you tread...shame really....how can the people of Tamil allow something like this to look so dreadful.....

It's the place of thiruvancore Kingdom, constructed by stones and variety of wood.
We can see their history of different generation, their architecture, materials they used for living are saved here .
Can be visited once to see the past life style of our people.
Well maintained place by Kerala govt. It is located around 25km from Nagercoil.
Town Buses are available from Thuckalay which is near to this Padmanabapuram.
Visiting hours - 9am-5pm .

The great poet’s statue of 133 feet tall is some thing which you can see again and again to wonder how perfectly this is built. It’s a great view. Need to reach the place through boat ride after Vivekananda rock memorial and you need to be lucky to visit this place as sometimes boat rides gets cancelled due to high tides.

The Lady of Ransom Church is a beautifully built tall church. The white colour of the Church building gives a good contrast against the blue skyline and hence makes it quiet an imposing structure. We visited in the afternoon when there was hardly anyone in the church. Found the entire place place peaceful and serene.
