Taman Negara Canopy Walkway

Reviewed By Johanna O - Wassenaar, The Netherlands

While staying at the Taman Negara resort we planned this activity. It is only for people with a good fitness level as some parts are a very very steep climb, and with the humidity and temperatures soaring, climbing may become just too much. The views are lovely, and when in the rainforest you want to see and do as much as possible to enjoy nature at its best. So do participate, but don't forget your water!

Kota Gelanggi Caves

Reviewed By ChelviGanesan - Ipoh

I was very eager to visit the place as it holds many history. The place was practically abandoned.
There was no one there when we went and the pathway was blocked, as the coat of cement looked pretty new.
There was a board with no show of any fee. The whole place was deserted therefore with much disappointment my friend and I left the place.

Rainbow Waterfall

Reviewed By KenYap55 - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Was excited when reach the side after a 30 minutes of jungle road by 4x4 truck, excited with crossing the river while carrying my 3yr old boy. AFter that walking thru the rocks which bring us to the jungle trail which has a stream beside it....as i walk i realize the challenge is getting difficult especially when you have a kiddo around.
The higher you go will be more challenging...and I would say, not for the senior citizen, ppl with walking disabilities or kid below 5. It is quite dangerous on certain stretch.
But the view was extremly nice once you are up there with the cool waterfall water from the top.

Jerantut Railway Station

Reviewed By Brun066 - Florence, Italy

Since - in the spring 2016 - the railway "Jungle Line" (officially called "East Coast Line", although it actually reaches on the Malaysian East Coast only Tumpat) was fully reopened after the monsonic flood who had interrupted a central stretch of it for many months, the only train running throughout the entire stretch, and stopping in Jerantut station, is the "Rakyat Timuran Express", linking Tumpat with Johor Bahru [Singapore] and vice versa.
As anyone can understand, the railway serves a route very attractive for tourists, approaching on the north side one of the top destinations for seaside tourism in Malaysia, ie the Perhentian islands; on the south side the rail ends at the second Malaysian city after Kuala Lumpur, and at the cosmopolitan Singapore. Moreover, the central section is precisely the famous "Jungle Railway"; and Jerantut is the main gateway to Taman Negara (National Park).
Well, because the current schedule no day trains allow you to run the central leg of the "East Coast Line" south of Kuala Lipis; here (and therefore in Jerantut) just the "Rakyat Timuran Express" runs. Moreover, it runs in the middle of the night, thus impractical for those who want to see the jungle from the train.
In fact in Jerantut this only train passes at most evil possible timetable: around 3:00 am (southbound) and around 4:00 am (northbound). So we witness the paradox of a decent station, like that of Jerantut, wich has as I wrote a good tourist opportunity, and that comes alive only in the middle of the night (when the two only trains I mentioned have a call) while it is inactive at any daytime.
One can imagine (but I personally experienced) how painful can be the long wait for your sleeper car at the Jerantut station, until most of the night is gone.
The only possible fun of waiting time is to observe the Malaysian travelers (often families with children) waiting for the train like you; or admire the beautiful and large tropical butterflies, evidently attracted by the color of the platform tiles, which fly and land on them, at the risk of being devoured by some cats, waiting for grab their prey.

Taman Negara National Park

The country's largest national park spans across the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang

Reviewed By Geert v - Maastricht, The Netherlands

A great place to take a walk either for the view or the animals. There are plenty of offices when you can plan trips by boat, car or with a guide during the day and during the night and the town offers all neccesities. There's a small place which serves a splendid fried rice (about four tables and an open kitchen) and in town you can get breakfast for a few RM, consisting of sweet and savory products. The road to the village has been renewed recently, providing a very comfortable drive up to this pearl in the jungle. Be sure to bring a lot of mosquito repellant and water, you'll need it. Small fee to enter the park and fees around 130 RM for a package (5 activities, covering 12 hours).

Taman Negara National Park

Reviewed By Vibeeshan P - Seremban, Malaysia

Taman negara is an amazing Place to visit. It's beautiful as it portraits true nature. It's situated in the middle of the forest. The road to get there is really challenging. But it was good. Epic journey. Taman Negara is great for hiking and it's siutable for solo trip and group trip. I advise for you to go yourself and explore the place. You don't really need a guide. There are clear sign boards and if you get lost there are lots of people nearby you can ask them. There're really friendly and they speak good english. 1 more thing. There are leaches there. So be careful. Pull up your socks, and cover your pants. Bring bug repellent also. Ohh ya, and don't forget the canopy walk and the boat ride must try. Enjoy your trip it's really worth it.
