Being a city girl has its perks, but seeing beautiful night sky and stars is not one of them. My eyes were aching for some beauty so I booked a trip to Jackson Hole with my kids to escape NYC and catch some beautiful sights. Once I found Wyoming Stargazing, I nearly jumped for joy. A trip with someone who can point out the night sky to me and my kids? Yes, Please. I could not wait. After a rather bumpy start with other employees of the company, we ended up going on a private viewing tour with Sam, the founder. He picked us up at our hotel right on time and me and my two kids piled into his late model SUV. We drove out of Jackson Hole and then turned off the main road onto a dirt road. We clunked along for a short time and he parked in the middle of a large plain. The National Elk Refuge. My kids JUMPED out of the car when they spotted a few Elk standing off in the grass. I only got out of the car in time to hear the sound of the small herd spritely running away from us. My kids were immediately in awe. Sam went to work setting up a large telescope and also a table with cider and hot chocolate. Next he took out three chairs, blanket and ipads. He handed my son a pair of Virtual Goggles. And, our adventure through the galaxy began. We saw a lot and definitely enjoyed having the ipad maps to guide us, as well as the blankets to warm up. I don't think any of us sat as we were all so excited to take our turn peering through the telescope lens. To be honest, I did not want the night to end, but after answering a dizzying array of questions my kids (and I) posed, it was clear that though our spirits were willing our yawns declared the night was coming to a close. It was wonderful to have the experience of being picked up and brought to such a special location and view some of nature's beauty and then climb back in the car knowing we were going to be dropped off right in front of our hotel. I would gladly book this special experience again and look forward to being able to do so. Thank you Sam for a wonderful end to our trip to Jackson Hole.

Stopped here as part of our exploration of the Grand Tetons. Gained a real appreciation for the contribution of the Rockefellers and their role in creating this park and Yellowstone. Went on a decent hike and saw many animal tracks, but no animals this time. As with all of this park - carry bear spray!

I'm not normally one to spend a lot of time in art galleries but this one had been recommended by serval folks so I gave it a try. Not disappointed at all. Amazing wildlife art/photography that is second to none. We ended up spending a whole lot more time there than we thought we would. Definitely go!

Their is a large tram, or gondola, up Rendezvous Mountain above and including the ski runs west of Teton Village, which is the ski village north of Jackson, WY. It ain't cheap, we paid $34 each in late August, and we are seniors. Thats the walkup price. It's cheaper if you order online. The cars are large. I believe they hold up to forty people.
The twelve munute trip runs you from about 6,000 feet elevation in Teton Village to over 10,000 at the top, which is on Rendezvous Mountain. The trip provides gorgeous views of the Snake River valley. On a clear day like we had it was spectacular in all directions. At the top there is an eatery which specializes in waffles. In ski season. No kidding.
You can stay on top as long as you want. Even in August it was cool, and the wind was brisk. Layer up!
Hily recommended if you don't mind the cost.

Mormon Row Historic District A once vibrant community. Homesteaders, who settled here near the turn of the 19-century, clustered their farmers to share Labor and Community.....as you walk imagine 33 homesteads surrounding a church and school. Structures from six homes remain here..

You HAVE to get your photo taken in front of the Jackson Hole Antler arches. While there are multiple throughout the area, the ones in the square are the original and most authentic. I've been going to Jackson Hole since I was a little kid, we have dozens of pictures in front of these arches! When I think of the town of Jackson, this is my first association!

I cannot rate this place highly enough.
We visited in February and bought tickets on the day at the visitor centre. The process to buy tickets was quick and easy at the main desk.
Whilst we waited for our bus to be called (a short ride in a shuttle bus takes you a couple of miles down the road from the visitor centre to the refuge), we browsed the visitor centre. It is a mind blowing place, full of information, gifts, souveniers, a view of the refuge from upstairs and a small, informative theatre. There are a few stuffed animals (elk, wolf, bear etc) which really show you the scale of the animals you are about to go and see!
Once our bus was called we headed out to the refuge where we met our driver "Bingham" and our two huge paint dract horses who pulled our waggon. As it wasn't too snowy, we had a waggon opposed to a sleigh. The ride was very bumpy! But it all added to the atmosphere and they provided thick woolen blankets for warmth.
I could not believe how close we got to the elk. The bucks were stunning with their huge antlers and our driver provided lots of information as well as making us all laugh throughout. We moved along several times to different parts of the herd, seeing males and females, as well as a coyote!
I cannot recommend this activity highly enough. All of the staff went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful and I took home some truly memorable posters as souveniers.
If you do one thing in Jackson - make sure this is it!

Always a treat to hang out in a cool place like Jackson Square. The anticipation of what treasures await in the surrounding shops, or libations in the numerous watering holes, or culinary delights in the multitude of independent restaurants. The antler arches are picture worthy for first timers.

I have always wanted to see a rodeo and the opportunity presented itself while we were in Jackson Hole. I was greatly disappointed and probably won't attend another rodeo anytime, any where based on this experience. We had seats in the covered seating section (all seating is on metal benches). The staff was very helpful in suggesting to sit up high for the best view. The music was nonstop and extremely loud (headache inducing volume). Tthe announcer has to yell over the music and we could not make out what he was saying. Wonder how they get the horses to buck as the horses appear to be trained to head back to the corral area. All in all, it was boring!

Oh boy!! Wyoming!! What an awesome snowmobiling adventure! Probably about 2 miles from the parking lot, you will weave through the Teton mountains, streams, open fields, waterfalls, on the way to the hot springs. Oddly the hot springs average 108 degrees in the winter and 95 in the summer...weird. Tip: No drinking in the water, and the attendant don’t play! We saw a dude get kicked out for drinking a coors light (he deserved it though, as he drank it right after being warned). Opens at 10am and closes at 4pm. $8 per adult. Cash (or check??) only!
