Opera at St. Mark's Anglican Church

Love Duets’ Concert: you do not have to be a lover of Italian Opera to enjoy this wonderful evening. It’s set in a small church from 1800’s. You have a piano, soprano & tenor performing Opera’s love song and Italian love songs. The setting and performance is overwhelmingly powerful. You’ll be moved to tears by the emotions. Not to be missed.

My wife and I attended the "Love Duets" in early November, 2019. it was outstanding! Franz--the piano player and organizer--gave a short explanation in english before each song. Franz is a crackerjack pianist who accompanied each song. The performers were top notch and we particularly appreciated the acting. This isn't a dry recital, the performers get it on with plenty of acting which adds a great deal of character to the performance. It is obvious that they enjoy the performance as much as the audience does. We've seen some of these types of offerings where the performers simply get up and do the job and there is no interaction with the audience--it is just a recital. ...not the case with Opera at St. Mark's--there is plenty to like with the performance. By the way, a block from St Marks is the excellent Trattoria 4 Leoni Restaurant--a fine choice for dinner before the show and you'll get set up with the waiter, Alphonso, who speaks great english, makes very good recommendations and is thoroughly entertaining. Have a great evening and leave St. Mark's humming some tunes!

Genova in Concerto

Genova - a wonderful place where you can enjoy a magic moment and experience the typical and elegant Italian atmosphere: the one offered by the Virtuosi della Commenda and the memorable notes written by the famous Italian composers, those who made Italian classical Music great and well-known worldwide. Vivaldi, Paganini, Puccini and many others will be reinterpreted in the magnificent, splendid and solemn Church of San Giovanni di Prè, pearl of the Genoese Middle Age, which belongs to the complex called Commenda di Prè: here pilgrims and crusaders could find relief for the body and the soul and then continue their trip to the Holy Land. Starting from here, we will leave throughout an exiting musical journey that, from the Baroque, leads us to the great century of the Italian Melodramma and the most recent compositions of the Twentieth hundred to live a magic evening together.

This was a fantastic concert in a beautiful setting. The church of Sant'Agnese in Agone on Piazza Navona in Rome is a wonderful setting for listening to some of the most beautiful Italian opera arias. The Pianist and Soprano were amazing but my favourite was the Tenor Adriano Gentili. His voice is perfection. In fact I can honestly say that when he sang 'Che Gelida Manina' - it was the best 4 minutes 20 seconds of my year so far. Adriano Gentili invests so much emotion into his performance. It is pure poetry. I bought my tickets ages ago and have been so excited all year. If I lived in Rome I would go every week. The perfect way to spend an hour. The concert leaves you feeling happy for a long time after the performance has ended.

RomeOperaConcerts

RomeOperaConcerts (formerly RomeConcerts) is the only concert season for tourists in Rome run by professional musicians: Giovanni Velluti (piano) and Alessandro Fantini (tenor). Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays with its concerts featuring classics of Italian Opera and Romantic Piano music, Tosca, Neapolitan songs, RomeOperaConcerts will take you on a musical journey you will treasure. We use piano and voices because in the theatres tradition piano is the only substitute of the orchestra: Verdi and Puccini composed their Operas at the piano. Our scheduled concerts will never be canceled whatever the bookings number. In our intimate hall, close to S.Peter's Basilica, the musicians are just feet from the audience: you will feel as in a 19th century private concert. Internationally-acclaimed musicians and will guide your experience of the music with commentary in English. Free Aperitivo immediately after the concert, in which you will have the opportunity to meet the artists.

I stumbled across the website for Rome Concerts while looking for a musical treat for my parents during our stay in Rome over Christmas, and booked tickets on a bit of a whim. I'm so glad I did – it really was one of the highlights of our trip. What a brilliant idea from these incredibly talented people, and what a unique and wonderful way to spend an evening. A programme of opera tunes and some beautiful piano pieces performed superbly in an intimate venue that really made us feel part of the experience – a feeling consolidated at the end of the show when the singers began performing their encore while handing out Prosecco and cake to the audience. On a practical note, the venue was also easy to find (important as I was trying to get my folk there without telling them where we were going!) – right opposite the Sant'Angelo bridge. They loved the whole experience, as did I. A truly memorable evening.

The Great Opera Arias Concert

The Great Opera Arias Concert is an excellent live concert of Opera arias, the only one to be performed, in the city of Rome, in a theater, inside a building dating back to the seventeenth century, located in the heart of Rome, 100 meters from the Pantheon. The concert is a selection of the most famous Opera arias created by great Italian composers such as Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Mascagni, classics of "Bel Canto", and Neapolitan songs. The program is performed by an ensemble composed of a soprano, a tenor and a string quartet, all virtuosos of Italian opera music. The theater of Palazzo Santa Chiara has perfect acoustics and is the only place in Rome, where opera arias concerts are performed in an auditorium equipped with comfortable velvet seats and air conditioning, and that offers the chance to enjoy an aperitif at the cocktail bar before the concert.

We found this wonderful venue by accident and bought tickets. As spontaneous choices can often be this turned out to be one of most memorable experiences of our five day stay in Rome. Superb musicianship in a small intimate theatre with its own 13th century chapel close to the awe inspiring Pantheon. What more can I say....remarkable. The staff were wonderful including the delightful Alice.
