What to do and see in Isla Chiloe, Los Lagos Region: The Best Transportation

February 13, 2022 Lashaunda Abraham

Although it's only a 30-minute ferry crossing away from mainland Chile across the Chacao Channel, verdant Isla Chiloe – the largest in the Chiloe archipelago – is another world. Sixteen wooden churches clustered around Castro on the island's east coast have UNESCO World Heritage status, and traditional palafitos (houses on stilts) dot its shores. To the west, Chiloe National Park shelters foxes, sea lions and otters and provides unspoiled terrain for horseback riding, sea kayaking and fishing.

Queilen Bus

Reviewed By Swiss_Globe_88

I have just joined 2 day trips with Tourismo Queilen in Castro / Chiloe since they were the only one I could find running tours and having an open office on Saturday afternoon in December. The price was very fair and it included all entrance fees and huge lunches incl. drinks (also wine). The guide was very nice and ensured people talk to / get to know each other right at the beginning. Therefore, a very familiar atmosphere in the bus and also always good amount of time to take pictures, walk around and enjoy the sights. I can only recommend them. Just go to their office next to the church/main square in Castro and check out the recent programme or contact them before by WhatsApp.
