Mount Kawi

Gunung Kawi is a temple complex centered around royal tombs carved into stone cliffs in the 11th century. It is located amid scenic rice terraces about 30 minutes from Ubud. Note: There are more than 300 steps to climb.

Reviewed By Liefhebber19 - Breda, The Netherlands

We combined The Gunung Kawi and Tirta Empul in one day. Two of the most beautiful templegrounds we have visited on Bali. This 11th century temple complex (one of the oldest on Bali) is thought to be the burial complex of King Anak Wungsu, his wives and favorite concubines. There are shrines (7 meters high) carved out of the rocks. To get to the temple and shrines you need to descend 371 stone steps. Next to the stairs there are lots of nice souvenirshops and on your way you have a beautiful view at the surroundings. This templecomplex is quite large, located in a jungle environment. There are lots of stone walkways and stairs. A unique templecomplex surrounded by beautiful nature. You have to wear a sarong which you can borrow at the entrance. We had our own sarong with us. A must see!

Titi Banda Statue

Reviewed By AaqarshAiyyar - Chennai (Madras), India

I am a big fan of the artistic statues in Bali and the Titi Banda Statue depicts the sethu bridge (some time referred to as Adam bridge) built by the army of monkeys headed by Sugriwa from Rameswaram in Tamilnadu to the Sri Lanka. I was passing by this statue many times and managed to grab a few snaps during one of the rides.

First time to Surabaya? Don't miss this attraction spot. Located exactly in front of Surabaya zoo, the Suroboyo Monument stands as a remembrance to the history of how Surabaya came to be. This marks the bravery (symbolized by crocodile) of the local kingdom back in the past when defending their area against intruders (symbolized by shark). Enjoy the the photo session too as there are many photographers around especially during the weekend.

Visiting Semarang is not going to be completed if you haven’t visit this temple. Sam Po Kong temple is the oldest Chinese temple in Semarang. This temple is not solely for Buddhist or Tao, but rather functions as a place of worship for people of various ethnicities and religious groups. This temple is painted with a magnificent red color and crowned with a triple-layered pagoda-style roof, typical of East Asian culture. Really beautiful... It’s worth to make a visit at least once when you’re around.

Second time I have visited this site and is always an emotional place for me. Being an Australian we just have to go and pay our respect to all those who died from everywhere around the world in this senseless act. The names of those lost makes the site a bit of a sacred and a somber location. Thank you to the Indonesian government and the beautiful people of Bali for creating this beautiful memorial site.

Simpanglima Gumul Monument

Reviewed By fifi_ikayati - Jakarta, Indonesia

My family living in this area. The monumen just built for the past 10 years, bfore that.. it were farms area. The sophisticated of monument simpang lima is the main tourism to attract people to come. The architecture of this monument is almost similar with Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but the relief showing the history kingdom of Kediri. The place around the monument is actually very wide and many thematic gardens up there. I used to run every morning in this area, I shoud say that this place is perfect for jogging ( well it just 50 m from my house ^^) I usually stop in Taman Hijau to enjoy the birds and koi fish. also in another kids garden to play with swinging and listening the small waterfall. In the morning always the perfect time to enjoy this place because you could be the only visitor to enjoying the thematic gardens. But in the morning you cant find "Pentol", its my favorite dishes.. usually there are a lot "pentol" sellers in the day or evening time. They all tasted great ^^ The only thing to worry about this place is just behaviour of some local visitors tht littering anywhere, no matter there are a lot trash cans everywhere. The cleaning team is always working hard in the morning..but its not an excuse to keep littering right. I hope local people have more responsibility in the future. And finally if you visiting this place you can visit my house too, my mom is good cook ^^
