Don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed. The numerous food providers make for an interesting mix, but the other retailers lack any sort of "oomph". The "live music" - take it or leave it (we left it). Quite entertaining, and one can get a reasonable meal at modest prices, but not much else to recommend this.

Coombabah Lakes Conservation Area

Reviewed By Sharon Y - Brisbane, Australia

Finally we checked out Coombabah and glad we did...great spot for seeing without trying mobs of kangaroos (the grass is long and lush right now after some rain) and if you have the time to look for a koala then you should!. Cause like us on our first visit we actually found 2 but we walked the trails & really checked out all the branches in the trees.
One very successful and pleasurable winter's afternoon was had by all.
On a serious note, don't bring your dog - there are plenty of other places to walk them. Yes you'll have plenty of opportunities to take photos of the kangaroos but lots of people were far too close to the kangaroos so signs about what's acceptable probably need to go up.
The Gold Coast City council has conserved this area as green space - it's for our native animals. A smart decision - there are simply not enough places like this anymore.

Paradise Point Parklands

On our recent adventure to the Gold Coast, we discovered Paradise Point Parklands on our first day.
What an amazing location, wedged in between some great restaurants and the broadwater.
Some great play equipment for kids, a swimming area, plenty of big shady trees and lots of open, grassed space.
We were lucky too, as we decided to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks from here, and it was amazing. Great family event, atmosphere and even better fireworks!
Definitely recommend, especially o a hot day as it is shady and protected swimming is available on the beach.

We had a great time even though the whales didn't come out to play. We were warned though that being the end of season this would be the case. Beautiful yacht and able to wander freely around her. We managed to see a couple of whales which made the trip well worth it. As for skipper and owner Darrl what can I say? Very informative great sense of humour and a great bloke.
People next whale season book with Darryl and avoid crowds.
Thanks heaps Darryl and good luck with the harvest.

The Park was good, we teamed it up with dream world to make a whole day of it as you won’t need a whole day just at whitewater world only.
The rides were great but there wasn’t much variety. All needed dingy’s, there were none you could just slide down.
The pool is quite large with ample space and sun beds around it. You have to pay $10 for a locker for the entire day. You also have wristbands you can load up with cash I make purchases without taking money around the park with you.
We paid about $15 each for a burger meal, the food was great! You’re bags aren’t searched so you could easily take your own food in as well. Great for all ages.

Links Hope Island Golf Course

Eighteen-hole championship course designed in the traditional "links" style by British Open champion Peter Thomson. Links is located just 45 minutes from Brisbane and 20 minutes from Surfers Paradise. Facilities include a state of the art Aquatic Driving Range, fully stocked Golf Shop, Restaurant and Bar, refreshment cart and banquet rooms. Visitors are welcome.

Reviewed By Jeannie2207 - Windsor, United Kingdom

A really nice experience from arrival at the Pro Shop. Classy clubhouse and friendly members. The course was in good condition and quite forgiving of "normal" off line shots - not so much with bigger errors (the first has water down the left waiting for the big hook). The greens are generally raised and I found myself using a putter from well off the green on many holes. Recommended.
