What to do and see in Hamilton, Pembroke Parish: The Best Tours

February 12, 2022 Jana Sager

Bermuda’s capital hosts hordes of cruise visitors in its harbor area, where two-story pastel buildings line the seafront. On certain summer nights, waterfront streets are closed to traffic and vendors and entertainers take their place for boisterous Harbour Nights parties. Stock up on Bacardi at the rum giant’s HQ or explore the mysteries of the sea at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Hamilton presents some excellent golfing and shopping opportunities and is easy to explore on foot.

The location was only a short ride from Hamilton, and the driver was friendly. Upon arrival, I learned about the traditional meal that Bermudians enjoy on Sundays and was able to see how it was prepared. I appreciated the history and the friendly conversation. My hosts made me feel welcome in their home. I would recommend this for someone who wants to see the difference between dining with a local versus going to breakfast at a restaurant.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our food tour with Mark O'Connell (aka O.C.). It was a great way to spend what turned out to be a rainy day. The tour gave us exposure to eight different establishments in just a few short hours. We went back to two of them the following day for full meals and enjoyed a discount at one of them thanks to the tour. Mark was fun and extremely informative, a delightful guide.

We went Whale watching with Fantasy and it was one of the best days ever! Welcoming crew with Captain Jake and Jade. Made the whole experience great. We saw so many Whales and even had dolphins swim up to the boat. Captain Jake was just as excited as we all were and what an amazing idea to fly a drone overhead so he could really see where the Whales were and what they were doing. I have traveled to a lot of beaches around the world and this is one of the most spectacular beaches. Chairs are $18 to rent. There is a bar with food and drinks, otherwise, it’s a great cheap day. Make sure you walk the paths to your left and check out the smaller beaches. You will have a beach all to yourself.
