Soak up the atmosphere of the house in which he lived for 23 years and wrote two thirds of his published work The Dylan Thomas Birthplace is unique in that it allows you to stay in the house as a visitor. When you book the house you have exclusive use during your stay. The house has a growing reputation for introducing new literary and musical talent from both Wales and the rest of the world. The house is open for visiting every day from 10:30am to 4:30pm and the relaxed journey takes you through the beautifully restored rooms to give you an insight into life in the Edwardian era and a perfect starting point to discover just how Dylan was inspired by "...this sea-town..." I was nervous on the front stoop, knowing where I was and how much change one boy would make on the world from upstairs in a tiny room. I will never be the same after seeing it.

Breakout Live Swansea

Breakout Swansea is Wales’s premier escape game. Immersed in teams of 2-6, you have 60 minutes to find the clues, solve the puzzles and (hopefully) Escape!

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience completing the Mumbles Bunker room. Having been to other escape games previously, it definitely compares well (perhaps better than some others!) and the game itself was great. Not too difficult but enough of a challenge and something for everyone to help out with / complete. Our host was Ash and he did a great job as game-master. Would definitely go back to try some different rooms!

The Escape Game

An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within the set time limit. After the initial briefing covering the general rules, a game master will show you to your room. Your group will enter and get acclimatised before the game master leaves you. Once the door is closed, a video introduction will play, introducing the room’s theme, storyline and giving you instructions on how to get started. Your group will then begins exploring the room, looking for clues and solving puzzles and challenges to ultimately find the code to escape the room within the set time limit. You can ask for clues if you get stuck during the game and these will be displayed on the countdown monitor in the room.

Cygnet Distillery

Visit Wales’s Cygnet Gin Distillery in Swansea. See how Cygnet is distilled on site, through the unique and fascinating distillation process, using 12 different botanicals. Meet the distillers & see how the gin is created right in front of your very eyes from mixing the botanicals to it being bottled in the bottling room where it's then shipped all over the world... PLUS, get a taste of Cygnet too!

We took the distillery tour and then did a tasting, followed by a delicious meal. Doug was a great guide and even though they were incredibly busy preparing shipments for Christmas, he took the time to explain everything to us in detail. The tasting was fantastic; it was so interesting to see how different tonics and garnishes changed the character of the drink. The tour was topped off with a great lunch at the restaurant and a perfect serve G&T. I highly recommend this Masterclass, and of course buying a bottle of Cygnet gin to take away with you!

I found this to be a really imaginatively curated exhibition for all ages and all levels of interest. Whether it’s Dylan Thomas or just ‘words’. Plenty of information in bite sized pieces and engaging activities for children. A real celebration of the man, his work, of art, literature and ‘words’. Recommended.

Egypt Centre

Reviewed By sosbanfach - Llanelli, United Kingdom

We spent a damp Saturday afternoon with our 5 year old granddaughter in the Egypt Centre at Swansea University. What a fascinating place to visit, staffed with very knowledgeable volunteer guides whose enthusiasm was infectious. Although consisting effectively of only two rooms, the exhibits and activities were displayed cleverly to draw you in and take you through the contrasting themes of 'Death' and 'Life' in ancient Egypt. Our granddaughter was in her element and took a worryingly wrapt interest in the mummification presentation! And it's all free!
