What to do and see in Gijon, Asturias: The Best Things to do Good for Kids

March 22, 2022 Weston Hennigan

This port city of about 275,000 on Spain’s north coast began 3,000 years ago as a fishing village. Today it’s a departure point for regional cruises, making it busy in summer (and making us wonder what those ancient fisherman would have thought of cruise ships). The original village, Cimadevilla, with its narrow, cobblestone streets, draws many tourists, and Cerro de Santa Catalina park at the tip of Cimadevilla’s peninsula provides great coastal views.

Baker Street - Escape y Misterio

Reviewed By wherespoochie - Malmö, Sweden

We've tried escape rooms in several countries across Europe and this is by far our favourite. I LOVED the theme, it was unique, refreshing and extremely well done. Even now I keep remembering some of the attention to detail. The puzzles were varied (no endless combination locks!) and really fun to solve, and they also complemented the story-line well. We emailed ahead of time to make sure that the room worked in English, and they were really helpful setting us up with a time that the person running the room would be fluent in English. Whilst some of the decorations and 'flavour text' are in Spanish, everything you need is in English. As another reviewer commented, I wish I could go back in time and play it again!

This room was a lot of fun! We played it in english, (it was really hard finding another room escape in Gijon which you could play in english), and the guide was really friendly and easy to communicate with. I would recommend it!

Always one of my favorite hang out spots to chill in Gijon, Asturias (from 2012 to 2016), whenever I want to escape my city life from nearby Oviedo, especially when the Sun is up! I had some good memories in this beach, with some special people in my life. You won't go wrong, going to a nice, wide, and, "friendly" beach, if you just wanna relax, for free.
