What to do and see in Galway, Western Ireland: The Best Multi-day Tours

February 16, 2022 Leonardo Torrence

For visitors, the best thing about Galway is that you can walk everywhere. As soon as you arrive, enjoy a walk through the city streets. There, you'll find lively pubs, independent shops and winding cobblestone streets packed with students, artists, writers and craftspeople. You may even hear Gaelic spoken. For a day trip, take a ferry to the island of Inis Mor. You'll return refreshed by the ocean air and Inis Mor's breathtaking scenery. Oh, and be sure to wear sunscreen on the island, no matter how chilly it is. (Just trust us, okay?)

This expertly guided road trip, along 1100km of ever-changing landscape, along The Wild Atlantic Way is a great way to explore Ireland. Take in Clonmacnoise, once a huge monastic city; kiss the Blarney Stone and get the gift of the ‘gab’ (talk); handy for getting to know your small tour group. Then how about Kinsale harbour where wild, Red Snapper and John Dory fight it out to be your catch of the day and into The Ring of Kerry, with only the Atlantic separating the 40 shades from the 50 U.S. states. Cool down with Fungie, Dingle’s resident dolphin who came for the fish in 1984 and stayed for the craic or stand on The Cliffs of Moher and feel you’re at the edge of the world. And in between the heritage and culture, there’ll be ceol agus craic (music and boldness), seafood and banter, city (Galway) and island hopping (Aran)and an epic road-trip you’ll never forget.

Well I am like most of the others in recent reviews as I have not yet gone on my trip. I want to emphasize how marvelous Ciara was when I had to cancel and I have now rebooked the 11 day driftwood tour September 7. Would love to hear from anyone else booking that tour. One of the reasons I rebooked was the low deposit as even though did get my deposit back with no trouble last year I was uncomfortable at my age and who knows what’s gonna happen with Covid putting a large deposit down again. Marvelous communication and service and I’m sure my tour will be marvelous and I can write a great review when I have been

My husband I did the Southwest Ireland tour with Jerome. What a great tour, Jerome was fantastic from start to finish, nothing was a problem. The actual tour was fantastic and I am sure we would not have seen everything we did if we drove ourselves. We learnt so much from Jerome, he was a wealth of knowledge without going overboard. Our group was mainly American and Canadian, we were the only Australians, everyone was very friendly and got on well. We were extremely lucky with the weather and the scenery was beautiful. The only thing I would change is, we stayed in the bed and breakfast options, I would stay in the hotel option next time.
