For a donation of your choosing, here you can enjoy an archeological excavation, a multimedia movie (although I skipped it), a rooftop view of Nazareth, a beautiful modern chapel with stunning iconography, a perfect little gift shop, a cafe, and a warm and friendly welcome from the sister and the staff. It’s not a holy site, per se, but it is in the neighborhood, and it’s much less likely to be crowded, offering ample room for reflection and prayer.

We visited the place for one night, we were a bunch of friends -- The atmosphere was magical, a peaceful place near the Sea of Galilee. A lot of seating areas, 2 pools, the place with spotlessly clean, very good sound systems around the facility and the red wine is great. Highly recommended.

Cana

Came here with a group of 30 fellow pilgrims, and was grateful to spend time in the place of one of my favorite parables. I found the church very attractive and not busy at all. In fact, we had Holy Mass in the late afternoon and were the only pilgrims in the church at the time - a serene experience. Afterwards, the couples among us renewed our wedding vows and received a historical-looking document attesting to it. TIP: Contrary to the advice of others reviewing this site, I would consider it a must-see for married, biblically-inclined tourists.

Capharnaum the Town of Jesus

Reviewed By 607jayb - Fairhope, United States

Wow, what a great place this is! The archeological site has been professionally and carefully excavated and the remains are simply one of the coolest treasures we saw in the entire Holy Land! We were on a guided tour and learned this was where Jesus lived for a while with the apostle Peter's mother-in-law. The house has been excavated and you can see where He actually sat, prayed, and ate meals. Incredible! The site also includes an excavated Jewish synagogue, so you can get a feel for worship practices of the Jews in those days. This amazing site has a working church, so be aware you may have to vacate that church above “Peter’s mother in law house” during worship services. They also have clean restrooms, a snack bar and a gift shop. All in all, a great place to spend a couple of hours away from the maddening crowds.

The history of how this boat was discovered, recovered, and preserved is well explained and is amazing. The video is short and to the point. Seeing the actual boat on display was so interesting. This place is well worth the time to visit. And by the way, the gift shop at the site is one of the better ones.

The Old City of Safed

Reviewed By Savtasu - Jerusalem, Israel

The old city of Safed should be seen on a damp winter’s day with mist swirling around the tiny stone houses, or an hour before sunset on a sunny day when the light is golden. Home of the Kabbalah in the sixteenth century, it is still home to lots of cranks and saints. One of the four holy cities of the Holy Land, while Tiberias on the lake is water, Hebron tomb of the patriarchs is earth, Jerusalem which was burned is fire, Safed is air, the spirit. Some of the houses are crumbling away, others have been renewed. Just wander and look. And talk to people .
