First Frisian Icescating Museum

Reviewed By NLxpat - Katwijk, The Netherlands

Small private museum in the UNESCO world heritage village - and one of the 11 towns on the almost 200 km long “ 11 cities skating tour” . The museum is loaded with skates of all sorts and times - as well as documentation etc on the various tours and participants. All in Dutch but most one can figure out. The movie shown was on the 1985 tour - again in Dutch but it gives great impression on this unique Dutch/Frisian event. The museum also has a shop with souvenirs painted according local customs. Restaurant elas closed due Corona but still serving coffee, cake as take-away. Free parking less than 10 min away - during walk to museum sights of the historic town.

Jopie Huisman Museum
