Turas Eireann

Turas Eireann provides quality full day excursions around County Kilkenny. We also provide a range of multi-day tours around Ireland providing a personal itinerary that accommodates what you want to include on your vacation and adding suggestions, of the lesser well known sites of hidden Ireland.

Our family of 5 just arrived home from a 10 day tour of Ireland where we engaged the services of Dermot O' Connor from Turas Eireann as our tour guide and private driver. Dermot educated us on so many levels...not only what to see and do, but shared many stories about the Irish people and the history of the Ireland. Having Dermot as our tour guide/driver we had the most enjoyable vacation which allowed us to sit back and absorb the Irish culture and not worry about driving on the opposite side of the road. We could also enjoy a Guinness or two at a lunch pub visit without worrying about driving to our next destination. After spending so much time with Dermot we felt like he became a member of our family and missed him when we began the final leg of our journey in Dublin where his services were not longer needed. Dermot is extremely courteous, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. We would highly recommend Dermot and Turas Eireann to anyone looking for a private escort/tour guide visiting Ireland. We rate him 5 stars out of 5 stars.

McCarthys Pub

We were on a road trip from Clare back to Waterford and had heard of McCarthys so decided to make it on route we also have a ancestry link to Fethard so two birds with the one stone , The kitchen has just closed but but we were accommodated menu was simple but fare was good as were drinks ..... McCarthys hasn’t changed much over the years and still has the shop on the left as you come in the door the pub oozes charisma and charm of days gone by and takes you aback to how things were ... The Barman and owner Jasper is helpful informative and easygoing we had the kids with us and felt totally at ease the only Shame is there is no local hotel I’d like to experience a night out in McCarthy’s !!!!! I don’t think you’d be disappointed great to find a pub like this close to home !

Surprised Lonergan's Bar and Restaurant is not under restaurant category in Tripadvisor I had a Chinese curry there last week ( Delicious ). The bar is spotless and the staff are so polite welcoming and efficient Lonergan's is well worth a visit while in Fethard . Remember of course with Covid rules as they are, it is advised to book in advance .
