Fareham (/ˈfɛərəm/ FAIR-əm) is a market town at the north-west tip of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton in the south east of Hampshire, England. It gives its name to the borough that comprises the town and its surrounding area. It was historically an important manufacturer of bricks (notably used to build the Royal Albert Hall, London) and a grower of strawberries. Current employment includes retail (including Fareham Shopping Centre with around 100 shops), small-scale manufacturing, and defence (with the Royal Navy's HMS Collingwood and the Ministry of Defence's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory nearby).

Been here many times and with good weather in Nov it was good to be able to sit outside and enjoy some very nice food for brunch after a good walk with the dog - shame they do not allow dogs inside as this would be good later in the cold weather. Will return if the weather allows!

Visited the castle because we live near by and often like to walk to it ,nice walk around the castle and sea shore it has a medieval church in the grounds with a lovely little tea room. A visit to the keep is very interesting and not to expensive lots of space of children to run about nice for a day out in the summer with a nice pub nearby.

Date night ,great film ,plenty of parking in the area. Good choice of restaurants around. Up the escalator into the cinema usual choice of over priced drinks and snacks. The seats are ok but there are better considering it’s a modern building needs an upgrade. Location is the key.

The Mary Rose Museum is home to the Mary Rose and the thousands of artefacts that were recovered from the Solent. Built between 1509 and 1511, The Mary Rose was one of the first ships able to fire a broadside, and was a firm favourite of King Henry VIII. After a long and successful career, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology. After a 34 year conservation project, the Mary Rose is now fully on display within her purpose-built museum.

Highly recommend this fabulous exhibition dedicated to the Mary Rose. One of the best exhibitions/ museums I have ever visited. Brilliantly thought out. A huge number of artefacts, and part of the hull of the ship on view. Well worth the trip here.

The building is architecturally interesting, incorporating timbers from the American frigate Chesapeake. It is now a grade 2 listed building. You can still hear the waters thundering under the mill. There is a cafe, but when we visited there were no tables free. The mill now sells a wide variety of antiques and bric a brac. You can have an interesting potter around the place. Prices are broadly what you would expect for an antique seller.

The staff are always friendly and will try and accommodate you if they can , Quiz night is the first Tuesday of the month and smart to reserve a table ahead. Always take the family pet too. our Freddie loves coming here . The newly furbished bar on the left is just for drinking and very well decorated with a modern edge. Food always good but the favorites always sell out early ...go for the specials. Looking forward to seeing you all in 4 weeks for the summer!

Been here before for walks. It’s nice, not as busy as some places. We walked about 6 miles from one end and back and out towards the nature reserve (had some refreshments there). Beach is pebbles not sand but kept quite clean. Several places to eat and drink and relax.

The whole place was crammed with weird and wonderful instruments to tell depth, pressure, and probably so many other things I couldn’t even start to guess what they used to do. You could look through the periscopes and into the bunkbeds and cabins. The man who led the first part of the tour was an ex-submariner, not sure about the other two. This is a brilliant submarine, made so special as it is apparently the last of its type. Well worth a visit.

We have lived locally for over 40 years and we have driven passed the gates thousands of times. But on receiving membership of English Heritage at Christmas, we finally turned into the gates.
We found the ruins of a 13th century abbey of Premonstratensian canons. The site is well preserved for a ruin and the underfoot conditions were excellent after a very wet spell of weather. The site offers about 30 minutes of interest, but is situated in the the River Meon valley about a mile north of Tichfield and on looking out onto green fields (if you ignor the garden nursery) you would have no idea of the large conurbations that surround the site, apart from the drum of traffic from the M27 motorway, as a result of a stiff northerly wind.
If the site was larger, it would make a fine walking venue. But we will consider the abbey as a picnic site in the summer, since it offers good parking and free entry.
