Wow we were so impressed by the campground, the store (tackle shop) and cleanliness of the grounds. The sites are large, available with full hookups which is rare for state parks. The lake is beautiful and from the people we saw cleaning fish, a great fishery. Don't miss it. Friendly staff too.

Nice clean town, interesting with large lake and nearby Fort Totten. We toured the old fort and enjoyed a scenic drive around the lake on our way west on Highway 2.

We are from Canada and knew nothing about cafes in this town but we were sent here by wait staff at a different cafe because first off they didn't serve any alcohol but also because the food was better! And it was!! My husband had the best chilli dog and I had the best grilled chicken salad and we ate in the caboose! While we waited for our food, we wandered around admiring the photos of old steam engines. Great cafe!!

Lake Region Heritage Center

The building is amazing! Love it! That being said the exhibits inside ranged from a courtroom to a church pulpit to mounted animals. It houses the first fire engine of Devils Lake among many other things. It also explains how the flooding of Devils Lake has changed the landscape in the region. I believe they offer guided tours but you must have to call ahead. The admission is very reasonable and kids under 12 are free.

Boots and Heels is a refreshing sight in downtown Devils Lake. They sell stylish shoes and clothes that you can't get anywhere else in town. They have more than you'd expect, because they have jewelry and handbags as well as shoes for ladies and guys. It's a super cute boutique style store that is modern and unique. The kind of place you'd find in a bigger city. High quality stuff that is more affordable than you'd think! Oh and the kids shoes are adorable!!
