Skimmerhorn Winery and Vineyard

Good BC wine, incredible tapas lunch and service staff that were exceptional. On a beautiful fall day a spur of the moment visit from Cranbrook took us to the visitor's center in downtown Creston where because it had a bistro, we were directed to the winery. We were greeted by April and given a table with a Tuscan like view overlooking the valley. April assisted with the tapas menu, we sampled some of Skimmerhorn's red wines and thoroughly enjoyed a memorable experience.

Baillie-Grohman Estate Winery

Baillie-Grohman’s premium award winning boutique wines are grown, handcrafted and bottled in small lots in the breathtaking Creston Valley in south-eastern British Columbia Canada. The Baillie-Grohman tasting room is open for tastings and sales 7 days a week between 11am – 5pm. Fridays and Saturdays in August we have an extended Happy Hour session in our pergola from 5pm – 7pm. It’s exciting to be on the edge in this emerging wine-growing region. We see interesting distinctions in our valley and on our Erickson Bench that are yielding premium wines with a unique Kootenay fingerprint.

We had planned to stay in Oosoyos (no vacancy) but ended up in Grand Forks. I was so sad driving by so many wineries after hours, knowing we couldn’t back track in the morning... so when my husband saw a couple winery signs in Creston, he pulled off the highway to check them out! The wineries are very well marked and easy to find. The staff at Baillie-Grohman were so sweet, friendly and followed all the sanitation measures required. We did a wine tasting which was very informative and engaging & then took a bottle of Gewürztraminer and charcuterie board of goodies to enjoy on the patio. The grounds are gorgeous and I was secretly taking landscaping notes! Loved the patios and the many different seating configurations. There were numerous interesting garden art pieces to enjoy as well. Although the air was smokey on this day, we could still see the beautiful sprawling vineyards. So glad we came across this winery!

Travelling through and stopped in for a quick tasting. Ended up having a great chat with David and enjoyed all the wines. Tastings like these are few and far between these days. Recommended.
