Great tour, our tour guide Aine was fantastic & I would recommend getting the guided tour because we learned much more than if we looked ourselves. Seeing the vestments & king Henry the VIII's sword were particularly cool

Well I am like most of the others in recent reviews as I have not yet gone on my trip. I want to emphasize how marvelous Ciara was when I had to cancel and I have now rebooked the 11 day driftwood tour September 7. Would love to hear from anyone else booking that tour. One of the reasons I rebooked was the low deposit as even though did get my deposit back with no trouble last year I was uncomfortable at my age and who knows what’s gonna happen with Covid putting a large deposit down again. Marvelous communication and service and I’m sure my tour will be marvelous and I can write a great review when I have been

The award winning Medieval Museum is the only museum in Europe built over two National monuments, the 13th century Choristers’ Hall and the 15th century Mayor’s Wine Vault. Tours can be taken by re-enactors or using our audio guides, at no extra cost. Don’t miss the incredible Cloth of Gold vestments which were lost for over 120 years after they were hidden from Cromwell’s army, the Great Charter Roll which was viewed by Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Ireland and the only piece of clothing to survive King Henry VIII’s reign, ‘The Cap of Maintenance’.

This guided walking tour (duration 45 minutes), includes access to six national monuments ranging in date from 1190 to 1783, it is a wonderful way for visitors to get an  overview of Irish history both the historic and archaeological treasures and also experience the developments in architecture over a period of a thousand years as visitors traverse the Viking Triangle. We market the experience as ‘From the Vikings to the Victorians -  A thousand years of History in a Thousand Paces’, in Ireland's oldest city, ‘Veðrafjǫrðr’, (Waterford). Now including a visit to an exhibition titled ‘Mayors through the Ages, Eight Centuries of Civic Government in Ireland’, which has been put in place in City Hall, trace's the mayoralty and the evolution of democratic parliamentary and local government through the centuries

Myself and two old friends customized the 7-day adventure trip and added a day. Pre-trip communications were excellent, and Brian would often respond same day, even while on other trips. The van was nice with plenty of room for our small group; would be nice to have more regular wifi, but who really needs that while on vacation? We drove a lot of km over the 8 days. Brian got us there safely, and having someone else drive was one of our motivations for going with a guide service. At times, particularly in the evenings, Brian was able to make up time. Tour route: we were all in Ireland for the first time and wanted to sample of all of it: mountains, coasts, historic sites, food, music, culture. We definitely got all of this, and more. We started in Wicklow and headed south then west. Most of the 8 days included a hike, bike ride, boat tour, or surf lesson, and some days included multiple activities. The hikes in the west were definitely the highlights. Timeliness: there was often traffic and the drive times were longer than anticipated. However, Brian kept us appraised of delays and offered options as necessary to account for unforeseen delays or to reduce van time. Each afternoon, we reviewed options and made plans for the following day. Accommodations: all the regular places that Brian booked for us were great. There was an AirBnB in Galway--booked on relatively short notice when options were limited--that was a couple of km from city center and was a bit musty. Everything else was really nice, and the breakfasts provided by the hosts or paid for by Brian at local cafes were fantastic. Food generally was fresh and tasty, and Brian had great recommendations in most of the towns we stopped in. Music: we came across the best trad sessions in Doolin. Brian has some skill with the whistle! Other: I think Brian felt personally responsible for making sure we had a fun, safe, and complete adventure. He would often join us on hikes, took lots of great photos of our group, and shared his deep and extensive knowledge of Irish history and culture. We were amazed at the range of topics that he had experience with, and he brought a whole new layer of experience to the trip that we would not have gotten on our own. Our experience with Brian made us all aware of the potential for future guided trips when exploring new places.

We just loved everthing about ireland, the friendliness, the fun, the tour guide, the small group travel. The scenery is just breathtaking. The ancient history is just jawdropping i mean these ancient women (queens) had some serious hootspur and gumtion. I mean they went out and did some serious stuff, got involved in wars, sailed ther own ships, left the babies home and got rid of husband who were just superfluous to requirements. I mean kudos to you girls. I know you are not gonna beleive this but we need you back. Northern ireland sad, such a waste of young life. Still feels haunted by the grief. Our hosts were b&b's, they were just delightful, and hilariously funny sometimes. Our tour guide (their were 10 of us) Gabriel was fantastic great sense of humour, very helpfull, fantastic with local knowledge and history. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
