Old Church Cemetery

Reviewed By Anniebannie1981 - Cork, Ireland

This graveyard is off the beaten track, but is one to recommend if you are visiting Cobh. There are three large graves for the victims of the Lusitania and lots of other graves including those who died in the Great War and World War II. It wasn't too busy and had lots of time to explore. There is also an old church on site and the oldest grave in the 1600's

St Barrahane's Church

Reviewed By C_and_H_11 - Dublin, Ireland

We have been to the beautiful area of West Cork many times, so always make a point of dropping in to the church in Castletownshend. There is a bit of a climb up ancient steps, but it's well worth it when you get there. It's really peaceful & tranquil in around the church. There are amazing stained glass windows, most notably by the famed Harry Clarke & the colours & detail are simply divine! There's also a very interesting graveyard within the grounds with some really old headstones, so we find these a great insight into local history. A really interesting & beautiful place.
