What to do and see in Cotswolds, England: The Best Playgrounds

March 9, 2022 Tynisha Seiler

The Cotswolds (/ˈkɒtswoʊldz/ KOTS-wohldz, /-wəldz/ -wəldz) is an area in south central England containing the Cotswold Hills, a range of rolling hills which rise from the meadows of the upper Thames to an escarpment, known as the Cotswold Edge, above the Severn Valley and Evesham Vale. The area is defined by the bedrock of Jurassic limestone that creates a type of grassland habitat rare in the UK and that is quarried for the golden coloured Cotswold stone. It contains unique features derived from the use of this mineral; the predominantly rural landscape contains stone-built villages, historical towns and stately homes and gardens. The population of the District is about 84,000.

We have just visited since reopening due to Covid. Booking process easy. Temperature taken on arrival before entering the building, very easy to socially distance due to reduced capacity and plenty of tables to choose from. Hand sanitizer available on entrance and at the entrance to all play areas. Children seen using the hand sanitizer regularly. The play areas were clean and you can see that clear effort has been made. Sanitising wipes available for the baby changing units so you could clean before changing your little ones. We used the cafe, food hot and fresh and easy to order. The play areas are excellent, separate areas depending an age/ability, trampoline area, and go kart area by far the best soft play we have been too and a lot fun had by our little one!!

Great play park, biggest I’ve seen. The girls loved it. Loads of space to run around in. Food for picnics - relies mostly on grass as few benches.

Visited from Warwickshire as a place to meet my Australian best friend who was over here visiting family in the Cotswolds. I had no idea what this place would be like but relied on a google search of kid friendly! We were both well impressed! It’s beautifully decorated, clean, they seem to have thought of everything! Staff were lovely friendly professional and helpful (not at all like the usual bored teenagers you tend to find in soft play centres!) Aussies are notoriously fussy about their coffee and my friend told the staff member it was the best coffee she’d had since being back in the UK! We stayed for lunch and this was healthy and delicious. We visited with 2 x 5 year olds and a 1 and 2 year old. It was the perfect place for us to meet up and I will no doubt suit again when in the area. Thanks so much!

The Play Farm

The Play Farm is Cheltenham's largest Soft Play, fully refurbished in January 2018 with extended Play Frames in Baby and Toddler areas while a sensory light area wows the littlest ones. We take great pride in our restaurant/Cafe offering adults and children's food that's a cut above the rest. We also offer children's themed birthday parties that have a great reputation for miles around.

Booked online and visited today after so many months of softplays being closed and was very happy to say I was totally confident with the social distance practices in place. Reduced capacity, hand sanitisers at various stations throughout and adults wearing masks when on the move. My son thoroughly enjoyed himself and I thoroughly enjoyed the amazing coffee, coffee and walnut cake and brioche fish finger sandwich!
