What to do and see in Cordoba, Andalucia: The Best Private Tours

July 13, 2021 Etsuko Causey

Córdoba was once the premier city of the Western World, the greatest metropolis west of Constantinople, and the seat of Europe’s first university. Today, there’s a modern commercial center, but most travelers love strolling the town’s ancient cobblestone streets, peeking through gates for glimpses of lush flowers and beautiful tiled fountains.

Congested shop in town. Made a E bike reservation in advance. Made it to the shop and none of the electric bikes were charged up and ready. Had to wait for batteries to be swapped around. One of the 1st bikes we recieved the kickstand was broke and dragging in the spokes. Finally on our way. 1 electric bike had no assist on hills. But flats is when it powered on. 1 chain derailment and another tire blow out. It was a mess. Didnt seem like the shop has any time to maintenace its equipment. It was hilarious experience with all the issues though.

My wife and I poked our heads into the alley of Los Patios De San Basilio during our visit to Cordoba this past November. A young woman was posing for a photo by her companion below the colorful flowers in the pots placed in the cracks in the walls. It is very picturesque.

Adriano was a wonderful guide. We had 3 stops. The first one was a small restaurant where we had sangria and sampled several local dishes. One was a potato and egg "omelet ". It was more like a quiche. Either way delicious. We sampled Iberico de Ballota, a Spanish ham. There was also bread and cheese. All fabulous. Our next stop was to a sidewalk cafe where we had the local version of Paella. We drank a lovely red wine. They served bread, a chicken dish and potatoes. All were wonderful Our last stop was to a restaurant that years ago was a Flamenco and artist hall. There was beautiful art work there. We sampled several types of fried fish. The sardines and calamari were perfectly done. We had Boquerones in vinegar and fried. Amazing flavors! There was bread and, of course wine. This time white wine. Adriano had a great grasp on the history of Malaga. He educated us as we walked through bother new and old Malaga. This is a very worthwhile tour.
