A route through the most popular history of Madrid: its taverns. Bars with more than 100 and 200 years of age, which are the living history of the city. Some have seen the kings eat and drink there, writers and others of the lower classes also. Between us, we will discover some of the most rooted traditions of our city. The anecdotes, the way of life of the people and the innumerable things that their walls have seen. Of course, we can stop to try a wine or beer of some of them! With the oldest restaurant in the world and an unequalled tradition in the world of bars, without doubt, Madrid is a city that you must get to know from the point of view of its illustrious taverns and restaurants. *The route may vary depending on the starting time and other circumstances and you will not always enter all the venues. Although the structure of the tour is always the same, we recommend choosing 11.00 as the starting time.

Inclusions: One drink and one "tapa" are included in the first and the last tavern. So, Two drinks and two "tapas" per person in total.

Exclusions: Private transportation

Jaime is GREAT! He went through the masterpieces of the Prado Museum with us one-by-one in the 3 hour tour through the history, and ended with the Goya collection. The collections are wonderful, and Jaime especially helped bring out the historical development of artists, the civil war, and from Van Der Weyden all the way to the 19th century. Jaime knows them all. If you have one place to go, do this 3 hour tour of Prado Museum with Jaime, your body will be tired all throughout, and mind and spirit all filled to the top.

This Madrid free walking tour is the perfect beginning to any trip to Madrid. It highlights the cultural landmarks of the central part of the city, while providing a concise and very useful overview of the history of Madrid in the larger story of Spain and Europe. It is also important to note that this tour company, OgoTours, was founded and is operated by locals. There are many ‘free tour’ groups in Madrid. My tour was given by Tatiana, one of the founders of the company. Tatiana imbued the experience of the tour with a tremendous energy and affection for Madrid and her life in Spain. She shared great tips on places to eat and shop, suggestions on planning day trips, and snippets of information that only a local resident walking around the city to live their daily life would accrue. I was happy to support this business and share the enthusiasm with others.

My husband and I had an AMAZING time doing the online tapas class this past weekend. It felt like we were transported back to Spain, and now we have amazing new (and incredibly fresh) recipes to add to the list of recipes we got when we took the Cooking Point class in person over two years ago (we still have the recipe book!). We had so much fun and totally recommend an online class as a great way to spend an afternoon and connect with your family in the kitchen (while feeling like you're in Spain). :)

This tour goes through the Prado Museum highlights. There are more than one thousand paintings inside (no, we didn't make a mistake, that's the truth), so we can't explore it all, nevertheless, we provide the base for you to go on your own after the visit. That's why we like to describe this as a didactic tour. However, if you're an Art Pro, we've got good news: since we're going to be only 4 people, you can choose what to see and make requests, and that's why we like to describe this as a flexible tour. If you are coming in a bigger group, send a mail and we'll arrange the visit.

Inclusions: Ticket to go in, Professional & experienced guide

Exclusions: Even if you'nice, you can't get a painting to your house., Gratuities

Absolutely fantastic morning walking tour with Leila who was brilliant. She took us to places that we would never have found and was so knowledgeable, interesting and upbeat. We took in a number of historical quarters, ancient walls - some hidden (Muslim and Christian), amazing food markets and we even visited an ancient church where the nuns still bake biscuits... and bought a box! We were so lucky because it was the day of the Madrid Marathon and the roads were carless and there was a great atmosphere. Leila also followed up the experience with a summary of our itinerary and lots of additional recommendations for food and drink. Fantastic Leila - thank you!

At first we thought that this seemed a bit expensive, but as it was a special occasion we decided to go all out, and I'm so glad that we did - it was definitely worth every penny. Giuseppe was our guide and he absolutely made the day for us. On the way in he talked about the the types of wines we were going to taste and their history and we all learned a lot that we didn't know before. The first place we visited was a family run winery which was very friendly and offered a personable tasting of their excellent wines with cheese. The second was much a much grander affair and again we learned a lot as we explored with a glass in hand. The lunch itself was absolutely delicious with enough options to please everybody, and you can pick a bottle to enjoy with it - which was a really nice touch. Originally I thought two wineries wouldn't be enough, but it was absolutely perfect. We tried so many lovely wines, with the help of recommendations from Giuseppe. It was the perfect mix between educational and really good fun. I'll definitely be going again (and requesting Giuseppe as my guide when I do so!)
