Ohori Park

Reviewed By Tony_Stark983 - Pattaya, Thailand

I discovered this park 4 years ago and everytime I need a place to restore my mind, I use to go there. The best period to visit it it's especially during the sakura season because it's full of cherry trees and the landscape becomes very suggestive. The park surrounds a lake also and you can walk all around it breathing the freshness of flowers and trees. This park is a piece of silence in the middle of the noise, a piece of peace in the rushing days of the people.

Daimyomachi Catholic Church

Reviewed By legomate - Hong Kong, China

That was a Sunday when I walked by. It has an English Mass schedule and I just went in. It's right in the centre of Tenjin. Very convenient from anywhere if you're just walking around Tenjin area. You could identify it easily as it has a tall bell tower. No photo is allowed inside the Church. It has a signpost welcoming the public to pray inside the Church and the chapel. While you're travelling and thinking about your home and family, it's the best place to say a prayer to God in Fukuoka. What's more interesting is that in the Stations of the Cross are painted on the stained glasses, while many churches using a little wooden board depicting the stations. I have been telling my wife the story of Jesus using the pictures on the stained glass of the Church and it's exactly why the stained glasses are needed. Just drop by and I'm sure you will feel the peace and tranquillity of the Church which you might not have imagined that you will find it in the centre of a city in Japan.

Fukuoka Castle Cherry Blossom Matsuri

Maizuru Park is the former site of the Fukuoka Castle inner citadel, which bears a connection to Kuroda Yoshitaka. In spring, the Yoshino cherry trees and weeping cherry trees burst into bloom -- close to 1,000 of them -- and the Fukuoka Castle Cherry Blossom Matsuri is held from late March through early April. During the event season, a signal gun inspired by Kuroda's unique cannonry marks the start of the nightly illumination show. There is also a quiz rally held at the Korokan at Fukuoka Castle, exclusive openings of the Sakura Fureai Zoo, and other programs. Lastly, the Ohori Festival is a historical reenactment of a march of Kuroda's horsemen.
