Offa's Dyke Path

We walked from Chepstow to St. James's Church at Lancaut along Offa's Dyke. Beautiful Spring day & the path passed through fields of dandelions & buttercups, under beech, oak, hazel & some resurgent elm. Above an old quarry, the flanks covered in Hart's Tongue fern. Climber's practising their art on the cliff wall's. Passed some characterful houses, among them Pen Moel, a sprawling Victorian giant of a place & Spital Meend, a classy mansion built of stone, half hidden among trees.

Went their for Sunday lunch on the 1/9/19. Food was very excellent. Lots to chose from the only let down was the roast potatoes.why do they deep fry them. You can’t beat roast potatoes done in oven they were very greasy. Starters so many to choose from. Mains excellent except for roast potatoes. Lots of veg if you like them mixed. But that’s just me. You couldn’t fault it . Dessert what can one say so much to choose from all were delicious. The cost very reasonable. Well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend and we will return
