Visited a few times over the last few months and definitely our favourite cinema. Cosy and comfortable sofa seats, any drinks and snacks you order at the bar beforehand are brought to your seat. Very relaxed, clean and good ambiance throughout - so much better than other cinemas we have been to.

We spent a lovely sunny afternoon on the Hylands estate. This was our first time visit and certainly won't be our last. Beautiful well kept grounds, great for picnic. Beautiful house & gardens. A few stalls were selling homemade food & gifts. Well stocked pretty craft & gift shops at very reasonable prices. We had lunch in the stable yard café, polite quick service in pretty surroundings. Cannot believe that such beautiful grounds & house are both free to visit, very rare these days. Good amount of parking spaces and very good disabled access around the gardens & house. Can't wait to visit in autumn when the trees are golden.

Chelmsford City Racecourse

Chelmsford City Racecourse is Britain’s newest racecourse offering thrilling all-weather racing under the mesmerizing light of its Champagne fluted floodlights. The venue also highlights its versatility with a huge range of non-raceday events. Now into its third year, the racecourse continues to strive for excellence in all areas, already having won multiple Racecourse Association Excellence Accolades, most recently for staff customer service and visitor information. The brand-new facilities provide a wonderful setting from which to anchor your raceday experience. The Grandstand boasts two restaurants, one ideal for families, friends and corporate events, the other, a more formal environment and perfect to celebrate special occasions. The restaurants are complimented by the lively Sports Bar area offering various raceday packages and bars for general admission.

Despite the rain we enjoyed an evening comprising 8 races including many novice races over relatively short distances, none of which was affected adversely by the torrential rain that came and went more than once. As a first time visitor I was very impressed by the facilities and the ability to see what you needed from the warmth and comfort of the sports bar. We were unable to book a table for dinner but maybe next time we will make a longer day if it with lunch and racing. Definitely a return in the new year.
