Aguinid Falls

Reviewed By Christophe D - Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

These falls are one of the main attractions near Moalboal. They are nice, very nice, offering a walk in the shade of a tropical forest, water running over beautiful smooth rocks, nice swimming possibilities, several easy trills like jumping from a few meters into the water, etc.
On the negative side, they are overcrowded and too commercial. Things go better as one goes further up – do not stop at the first cascade, which is completely ruined by commercial activities and crowd. Go up to the very top one, it is by far more pleasant and beautiful.
They are heavily advertised. Numerous travel agencies offer “tours” and “canyoning experiences” against serious money. Using their services is a pure loss of money. The falls are easily accessible, all activities are easy and without danger (I am 72, so do not worry about your age if you are in reasonable form), no special equipment is needed besides good waterproof shoes and a watertight bag for papers and camera. Of course, do not forget sun cream, insect repellent, sunglasses and a hat. All equipment, food, drinks, can be rented or bought at the falls entrance. Transportation from Boalboal by bus is extremely cheap and convenient. For a couple of dollars, including the mandatory entrance fee, one can do all the things one can do in a group without its constraints and spend a nice couple of hours al fresco.
However, not that much further, there are other falls that are much less commercial, less crowded or even almost deserted, and in my opinion more beautiful. Find them on your own, its well worth the effort.

Simala Shrine

It’s my first time to visit this church and I love it.
It gets crowded in the afternoon and hard to find parking spaces.
Also make sure to allot more time as the traffic from Carcar to Sibonga is hilarious. It took us 2.5 hours going there and over 4 hours going back to Cebu city.

Osmena Peak

Osmeña peak is a good option for family and friends looking for a half day adventure. The place is accessible to all kinds of vehicles. Public transportation is also available.
The site has a trail and the hike is relatively easy. You don’t need special tools to enjoy this place. Photography enthusiasts will definitely enjoy the place. And also, this site offers a good view of a geological event transpired decades ago — you’ll see the fault line!
Best viewed early morning or late afternoon.

Tumalog Falls

We went here after Kawasan falls and was utterly mesmerized by it's grandiose beauty. It's less busy and not so commercialised than Kawasan. The water is shallower to swim. It's a steep road to get to it and a bit of an uphill climb to go back, but so totally worth it.

Basilica del Santo Nino

This famous church dates back to the early Spanish colonial era.

Reviewed By mel7155 - Singapore

Nice church to drop by for a quick prayer and a nice interior with scenes from the Bible painted on the ceiling. Generally good to go on a weekday when the crowds are not there to pay your respects to the child Christ .
Bag checks is discriminatory and they seem to be checking only the bags of tourists . Plan to spend about 25-30 minutes here together with a quick drop by the magellan cross site.
Cebu city is not exactly loaded with great sights so the visit to the church is okay.

There’re plenty of restaurants, local and international food. There’re also a few bars for chilling. The cinema is good and comfortable. The vibes are good overall. But it’s a bit confusing and the signage s doesn’t help much.

Having been turned on to this location through Trip Advisor, I was pleasantly surprised by the attached museums which provided some context to the building's place within Cebu's history. If you have a strong imagination you can picture the home in its glory days. Definitely worth a visit.

Kawasan Falls

Reviewed By Zahur T

I went here last summer to treat my girlfriend for an out of town vacation before she broke up with me. I should've drowned her while we were Canyoneering haha. Our guide was so bubbly that she cannot keep her mouth shut for a second which is a good thing as it made the walking less tiring. Before we jump cliffs the guide made that we are safe and checked if our vests are properly worn and secured. after Canyoneering and all the walking we then took a bamboo boat ride to get a closer picture of the fall wich was great but scary at the same time thinking that the pressure of the falls can break your neck. I would recommend

Kawasan Falls

I think it is better to do canyoneering tour through Kawasan fall since it was easy. The path is for beginner. The view is stunning and the whole canyoneering experience is incredible. The main kawasan fall for non-canyoneering is crowded and very commercial.
