Etnalcantara

This trip is not just for those interested in geology: anyone who loves nature and breathtaking landscapes should join us on this special excursion. Our 4X4 vehicles allow us to visit the unspoiled natural beauty that makes Mount Etna so famous, while avoiding the crowds of tourists. Enjoy extraordinary scenery, ancient forests, black lava fields left from previous eruptions, volcanic craters, lava caves and other natural wonders accessible only to those with the right set of tires.

This was an amazing experience. Although I travelled solo, I took this excursion with two other people who were staying at the same accommodation. We were picked up by our guide, Alfio, who was very welcoming and friendly. During the whole trip he explained us so much and told us a lot about not only Mount Etna but as well Sicily’s history. I could have spent several days with him and not get bored. We went to see several places (cave, lava flow of 2002, the skistation, Mt Satorius,...) with the help of the great driving skills of our guide in the 4x4. Very professional, very friendly, just a great experience in every way! Thank you Alfio!

Palmento Costanzo

Palmento Costanzo is located in Contrada Santo Spirito, in Passopisciaro village, on the northern slope of Mount Etna. For centuries grapes of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto have been cultivated here. Today they farm following the principles of organic farming and all the labor is done manually. This is our home, where our Etna DOC wines are born: an authentic expression of the largest active volcano in Europe.

Excellent hospitality as always with Planeta. We were a group of 10 and had a tasting of exquisite wines paired with local delicacies. Elena received us and showed us the beautiful palmento and the surrounding vines, she then guided the wine tasting and made us have a wonderful time. The attention to details and the refined taste of the family is also shown by the presence of beautiful contemporary artworks. During the summer season check out the "Sciaranuova Festival - Teatro in Vigna", curated by contemporary authors directly on the spot in a natural amphitheatre in the vineyard.

We had scheduled our visit to the winery with Patrizia, and when we arrived we were taken on tour by Giulia who was very knowledgeable of the wine making process and the history of the winery. She took us to the important areas within the buildings, and explained the processes. She showed us the view outside to Mt. Etna and the surrounding vineyards. On the outside benches we had the tasting of 4 wines, accompanied by bread with meat, cheeses, olives, sundried tomatoes, etc. This cost 27 Euros each. We purchased some wine to take with us and also shipped 6 bottles to our home. The wine arrived safely after 4 weeks. This was a good tasting with very excellent wines born on the lava based soil below Mt.Etna.

Fischetti

An ancient millstone at the foot of the Etna Mount, which belongs to the Castiglione di Sicilia Municipality and the fraction of Rovittello, has undergone a patient restructuring and recovery by the Fischetti Family, whose aim is to restore the old charm. The enclosed vineyard is situated around 650 metres from the sea level. The traditional sapling plantation allows the exclusive manual workmanship throughout the year. Our plantation is composed exclusively by indigenous vines of the Etna Mount, which are 80 years old on average, and which present numerous ultra centennial subjects of the pre-phyloxera period; these are the roots for the Etna’s D.O.C. production (high quality wines). Our motto represents the taste and the quality derived from one of the most beautiful territories in the world, which is, since 2013, a worldwide UNESCO heritage. Our mission is to extract the best of what we dispose, and having an important experience in the field of Etna D.O.C., we point at offering something to remember and not just a mere momentary pleasure; simply an authentic and proper fragment of an admirable volcano.

I was looking for a place around Etna to tour a vineyard and taste some local wine with my American boyfriend. I have to say, the vineyard is AMAZING. The ivy growing all over the house is spectacular, the garden is insanely beautiful... everything was so beautiful. I have recommended it to all of my engaged friends for their weddings. Talking about the wine, we did the tasting with six glasses, which included bottles of red, white and rosé. Everything was perfect. Daniela was our hostess and she was extremely kind and well versed. We ended up buying several bottles of wine and we definitely gonna order more. Highly recommended if you want a taste of the real espressione del territorio of Sicily!

Alcantara River Park

Giardini Naxos is known to have been first Greek colony in Sicily.Naxos has lovely beaches ,the open air cafes, bars and restaurants crafts and art shops, an ideal place to by souvenirs or small gifts when it is time to leave the Sicily... A few kilometers from Giardini Naxos in the valley of Alcantara are the strange narrow gorges carved out by water over the centuries. It has created bizarre and amazing sculptures on the lavic basalt walls. The river waters are very cold due to the fact that they are coming from the melting snows of the volcano. It takes only about 30 minutes by bus to get there from Recanati bus stop . Unique experience, must see.

Le Gole dell'Alcantara

Brought there by friends, it was another unusual experience near Catania, with those geological canyons built by the water . You can walk in out the bed of the river and there is a nice fall to see.
